Scam!! Boat in reviews is not boat you are getting!!

BUYER BEWARE — Our experience did not match the listing. We booked this boat for 10 people, including 3 young children, based on the photos and advertised amenities. When we arrived, we were presented with a much smaller boat that was not what we believed the listing represented and was missing advertised amenities, including Wi-Fi, a shower, and a refrigerator. When I questioned the operator and requested a refund, he refused. I was then asked to pay an additional €1,300 privately, outside of Viator, to get the boat we believed we had originally booked. We had already paid approximately $1,400 through Viator. We were only in Split for one day visiting family we hadn’t seen in 15 years, so I felt pressured to pay the additional amount rather than lose our entire day. Based on our experience, the photos did not accurately communicate the boat we were initially provided. I have requested a full refund and reported the situation to Viator.

Response from the operator: We would like to clarify the situation as we are genuinely surprised by this review and the subsequent request for a full refund. The boat for this specific tour is clearly stated in the tour description as the Marlin 790 Dynamic and the listing includes 15 photos uploaded by us as the operator, including photos clearly showing this exact boat. Our company operates several boats, including larger Colnago models. Some photos in the review section were uploaded by previous guests and show our other boats. Guest-uploaded photos cannot be edited or removed by us, so they should not be confused with the official provider photos or the boat specified in the listing. When you arrived and explained that you had expected a larger boat, we offered you an upgrade to our 45-foot Colnago 45, which you accepted. The €1,300 difference reflected the upgrade to this substantially larger boat, while your original Viator booking remained in place. We immediately did our best to arrange for the larger boat and a different crew so that you could continue with your planned day rather than lose the experience. Throughout the day, our crew communicated to us that everything was going very well. Photos were also shared on your social media showing the group enjoying their time on the boat, and the crew received a generous tip at the end of the tour. Based on this, we naturally understood that you were satisfied with the experience provided. We regret that there was a misunderstanding regarding the boat, but there was no false advertising or intention to misrepresent what was being offered. The boat was clearly identified in both the description and the official provider photos, and once you requested a larger boat, we did our best to accommodate you as quickly as possible. We believe it is only fair that the effort we made to accommodate your wishes and make sure you could still enjoy your day is also recognized. Please consider the full circumstances of what happened, including our efforts to resolve the misunderstanding, rather than judging our business based on an issue that did not result from false advertising or a failure on our part to provide the service booked.

    First Class Experience!

An amazing day with our captain Josef and Leonarda!!! A first class experience with a beautiful boat and wonderful service. We took our teenagers and we all enjoyed every moment. This is the best way to see the islands without all the crowds. We can’t wait to come back! A must do in Split!

    The perfect day!

Spent the day on this beautiful boat as a treat for my 50th birthday. The highlight of our trip to Split. From the moment that Leonarda met us at reception of our hotel, we were taken care of. Leonarda was the perfect hostess and Josep, our skipper for the day, was excellent. Both were highly professional, knowledgable, friendly and attentive- we could not have asked for more. Josep made suggestions of locations and listened to how we would like to spend our time. We swam in clear, calm bays. Stopped off for coffee and ice cream in Komiza, lunch at a lovely restaurant Hvar island and did a bit of sightseeing in Hvar town. A great way to see the islands, especially on such a luxurious, well appointed boat. This is a luxury tour but so worth it - memories are priceless!

HVAR & 4 Islands PRIVATE BOAT TOUR: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Split.

How much does HVAR & 4 Islands PRIVATE BOAT TOUR cost?

    +

Prices start at $1421 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Split usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does HVAR & 4 Islands PRIVATE BOAT TOUR take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Split is not rushed.

Is HVAR & 4 Islands PRIVATE BOAT TOUR worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 35 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Split, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule HVAR & 4 Islands PRIVATE BOAT TOUR?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is HVAR & 4 Islands PRIVATE BOAT TOUR suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book HVAR & 4 Islands PRIVATE BOAT TOUR?

    +

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Split can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Split and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does HVAR & 4 Islands PRIVATE BOAT TOUR start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Split within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Split?

    +

On Outty we rank every Split experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Split Small-Group Walking Tour with a Magister of History, Split Walking Tour with Professor of History, From Split: Krka Waterfalls, Food & Wine Tasting Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Split?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Split?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
