About this experience
The Strudel is a typical Habsburg-Empire dessert, but it can be originated to the Turkish influence in Hungary. It is an essential part of the wedding dinner in the countryside. I use my mother’s recipe who makes the stretched version. This Strudel pastry is elastic, very thin and it is stretched by the hand. We make sweet and salty Strudel as well. Where I grew up, there were some typical fillings: poppy-seed with pumpkin, salty cabbage and sweet cottage cheese cream. Now you can make these on my special baking course. Come and join my culinary experience, learn about my family tricks and at the end of the course enjoy the result of your efforts. If you are also interested in cooking a complete Hungarian meal, you may enjoy my "Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti" or the 4-hour "Premium Hungarian Cooking Class with Chef Marti."

Great class
This was a wonderful tour, and you will be amazed that making strudel is much easier than you think. If you are traveling solo, you may not be able to book on viator or getyourguide, as they want you to have at least 2 to sign up. No problem, go to Marti's website, Flavors of Budapest, and Marti will do all she can to make sure to find a class you can be part of. Even if you have never baked before, you will enjoy the class, and you get to taste what you made. Enjoy this class. Highly recomended.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience! I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Hungarian Strudel Making Class and discovered that stretching traditional strudel dough is much easier—and more fun—than it looks. It always makes me happy to see guests, even complete beginners, leave with the confidence to recreate this authentic Hungarian pastry at home and take a special memory of Budapest with them. Thank you as well for mentioning that solo travelers are also welcome. Whenever possible, I'm happy to help them join an existing class through Flavors of Budapest (Cooking Hungary), so they can enjoy an authentic Hungarian culinary experience together with other guests. It was a real pleasure to bake and cook with you, and I'm so happy that you enjoyed tasting your freshly made strudel. I hope to welcome you back to Flavors of Budapest (Cooking Hungary) for another authentic Hungarian cooking class or Hungarian baking experience on your next visit to Budapest!

Hands on amazing...
Hands on AMAZING experience! All 6 of us participated as she took us through the process step by step with the goal being to be able to recreate the pastry strudel at home. I left feeling prepared to do this! Both cherry/cheese and apple were delicious and gentle in flavor and the cheese dip with vegetables and amazing Hungarian sausage also incredible! This is a MUST when visiting!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your kind review! I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the hands-on nature of the class and left feeling confident about making Hungarian strudel at home. That is exactly what I hope guests take away from the experience. It was a pleasure to host your group and guide you through the traditional dough-stretching technique while preparing both Apple Strudel and Sour Cherry & Sweet Cottage Cheese Strudel together. Thank you for spending part of your time in Budapest with me, and I hope you will enjoy making strudel at home for many years to come.

Strudel Class
I've been to a few cooking classes now but this was definitely one of the best experiences. Marti is really friendly and a good teacher. She imparted lots of knowledge about the technique of strudel making but also about the history of Hungarian cuisine. We had a lovely time and would definitely join another of her classes when we return to Budapest!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review — it truly means a lot to me! I’m very happy to hear that you enjoyed the Stretched Strudel Making Class in Budapest and that both the hands-on techniques and the stories behind Hungarian cuisine and culinary traditions made the experience special for you. Sharing the authentic strudel-stretching method, along with its cultural and historical background, is a big part of what I love about teaching these classes. It was a real pleasure to bake together, and I would be absolutely delighted to welcome you back to Budapest for another Hungarian cooking class, Chimney Cake workshop, Lángos making class, or another local favorite.

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.
How much does Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways cost?
+
Prices start at $94 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.
Is Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 80 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Budapest?
+
On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Budapest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Budapest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
