was not able to take the...
was not able to take the cruise. I printed the ticket as instructed, but the woman at the ticket counter barked at me, about a 8-digit booking number that was not on the ticket. I gave up and walked away.
Response from the operator: Dear Mr. Wilford Johnson, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and please accept our sincerest apologies for the frustrating experience you had when attempting to take the Huangpu River cruise on December 12th. We would like to clarify that we did send you a confirmation for the sightseeing ticket via both Viator booking platform and WhatsApp on November 19th, which should have included the necessary booking details including that 8 digital number. We have already reached out to you to better understand the situation and to assist in resolving this matter. We truly hope to receive your response. We also regret to hear about the manner in which you were treated by the staff at the counter. This is certainly not the standard of service we aim for, and we will communicate with our partners to ensure such incidents are avoided in the future. In the meantime, we hope you are otherwise enjoying your stay in Shanghai. Should you need any further assistance or information, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Sincerely,
via Viator
Be careful!
The operator refused to honour the Viator voucher. After using Viator countless times all over the world with seamless experience, this is no longer the case.
Response from the operator: Dear Madeleine_M, Thank you for your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience experienced during the ticket collection process. We are, however, glad to know that the tickets were ultimately collected and used successfully. As the local activity supplier for your Viator booking, we processed your reservation on August 28th and sent a confirmation which included the necessary instructions for collection. We regret if these instructions were not sufficiently clear, and we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We are taking this as valuable feedback to improve the clarity of our communication for all future guests. We hope you still enjoyed the Huangpu River Cruise. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to the opportunity to provide you with a seamless experience in the future. Best regards,

Better Options
Was fun and all, but I could have bought the same ticket myself cheaper and I got nothing else for it. Also, the boat was crowded and had basically no seating UNLESS you paid another ¥100 to upgrade to VIP. Honestly, just go buy it yourself at the dock and then pay the upgrade, it will still be less than what I spent on this excursion here.
Response from the operator: Dear Austin_R, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We sincerely appreciate your perspective. We’re glad to hear you found the cruise fun overall. Regarding the ticket price, our fee covers the convenience of securing your tickets in advance and ensuring access, especially during peak times when availability can be limited. We apologize if this wasn’t made fully clear during the booking process. The cruise can indeed get crowded during popular times such as sunset or when the lights illuminate the Bund area. Unfortunately, upgrades to VIP seating can only be arranged on-site directly with the cruise operator and are not available for advance purchase. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Your feedback is extremely valuable, and we’ll be sure to share it with the cruise company to help improve future guest experiences. We regret that your experience this time did not fully meet expectations. Should your travels bring you back to Shanghai, we hope to have another opportunity to provide you with a smoother and more enjoyable experience. Best regards,

Why this scores 45
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Huangpu River sightseeing Cruise Ticket from ShiliuPu Pier: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.
How much does Huangpu River sightseeing Cruise Ticket from ShiliuPu Pier cost?
+
Prices start at $26 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Huangpu River sightseeing Cruise Ticket from ShiliuPu Pier take?
+
Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.
Is Huangpu River sightseeing Cruise Ticket from ShiliuPu Pier worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (2/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Huangpu River sightseeing Cruise Ticket from ShiliuPu Pier?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Huangpu River sightseeing Cruise Ticket from ShiliuPu Pier suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 6. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 0.8-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Huangpu River sightseeing Cruise Ticket from ShiliuPu Pier?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Huangpu River sightseeing Cruise Ticket from ShiliuPu Pier start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Shanghai?
+
On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Suzhou Private Day Trip from Shanghai with Bullet Train Option, 4-Hour Flexible Private Shanghai City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Shanghai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Shanghai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
