Maquinna Provincial Marine Park
Visitors from around the world are drawn to to Nism̓aakqin Park in Clayoquot Sound to soak in the mux̣ʷšiƛa (mahkw-shith-ah) hot springs. The natural mineral hot spring pools are a unique feature. The geothermal hot springs cascade down a waterfall into six rocky pools. The pools flow from one level to the next becoming gradually cooler as the fresh spring water is cooled by ocean swells. mux̣ʷšiƛa, which means “steaming from rock”, is the ʕaḥuusʔatḥ (Ahousaht) name for the hot springs. ʕaḥuusʔatḥ knowledge and culture keepers consider the spring water in the pools to have healing properties. Formerly known as Maquinna Marine Park, the area was renamed in 2025 as Nism̓aakqin Park. Nism̓aakqin (nis-mock-kin) means “our land that we care for” in nuučaańuł. There are many places of important cultural, historic and spiritual significance to nuučaańuł (Nuu-chah-nulth) First Nations within Nism̓aakqin Park.

Hot Springs Cove
After a 1–1.5 hour boat ride with wildlife viewing opportunities along the way, there’s a 30–45 minute walk along the boardwalk leading into the hot springs. You can enjoy the hot springs and the view for two hours, and then you have the return walk back to the dock for pick-up and another boat ride back home.

Hot Springs Tour - Highly recommend
Highly recommend this tour. It was the perfect length of time. Sea otters along the way, nice green hike to the springs. Matthew was an awesome guide too. Really knowledge about marine life. The hot springs were stunning, and have small pools to soak in.

Hot springs tour a must!
The hotsprings tour was amazing and Captain Mack was a pro! We saw masses of stellar sea lions, a feeding gray whale, and rafts of cute little sea otters floating around on tgeir backs. Loved the rustic hot springs and the forest you walk through to get there was incredible. HUGE trees and also large trees growing out of nursing logs!

Disappointing Tour
This tour left us very disappointed, for $300 per person we expected more than a boat trip to a hot rock pool!. Our Captain was very competent but it would be nice to have some commentary along the way about the local area and culture etc. As for wildlife we saw very little. Admittedly it was winter but we went so fast I could even use my binoculars to look at birds. But the hot pools are farcical, it’s a tiny hot spring that flows over some rocks and creates enough space for 4-6 people Max, our group of 10 plus the next boat meant there was no space for many of us, so we sat on the beach while the privileged 4 people who raced to the pools had the deeper water. I would not recommend this trip for the hot springs. Worst $600 we have spent on a holiday.
