Just do it, it was really nice and one of the best experience in luxor. The tour started at 5:00 am and finished at around 7:30 am

Incredible balloon ride, but very poor communication and organization
The actual hot air balloon ride was incredible, but unfortunately the experience leading up to it was much more poorly organized than we expected. When booking, we were able to select a 6:30 a.m. pickup time, which worked well with our schedule. A few days before the tour, the operator requested our hotel name, room number and passport information. I provided everything promptly and sent our room number as soon as I had it. I also specifically asked what time we could expect to return to our hotel and was told 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. The night before the tour, I messaged the operator again with our room number (because they asked me to send it to them again) and said we were looking forward to seeing them at 6:30 a.m. I was then told that our pickup would actually be at 5:20 a.m. because we were being given a complimentary upgrade to a SUNRISE flight. We were surprised by the significant time change, but adjusted our plans and made it work. Unfortunately, the pickup was late anyway. Then, once we arrived at the balloon site, we were kept inside the van for 1 hour because our tour guide “needed to obtain a flight permit”. When we were finally allowed out, our group was standing on a gravel road where vehicles were continuously driving in and out while other tour groups were waiting in the open field. We were repeatedly told that we were waiting for a permit to fly, so everyone patiently waited. The sunrise that morning was at 6:43 a.m. At exactly 7:00 a.m., the balloon crews suddenly began rapidly inflating more than 20 balloons, and groups of excited passengers started boarding. At that point, it became obvious to us that despite being told we had been upgraded to a “sunrise flight”, we were definitely not going to be part of the first set of flights. Our balloon did not take off until 8:00 a.m. This was the biggest issue with the tour: the lack of communication. Nobody clearly explained to us what was happening or gave us a realistic expectation of when we would fly. The guides seemed just as confused as the guests, and several people in our group were understandably becoming frustrated. There was also nowhere to sit other than the dirt, no water, and no coffee or tea despite these being advertised as part of the tour. It was very dusty while the fans inflated the balloons, making it dry on the throat. I felt particularly bad for some guests with mobility issues who had no proper place to sit while waiting. If we had simply been told upfront, “your flight will likely be around 8:00 a.m.; please expect a long wait,” we could have prepared accordingly and brought water. Instead, we were expecting a sunrise flight and ended up waiting more than two hours after the original expected timing. The 35-minute balloon flight itself was fantastic. Our pilot was professional, calm and clearly experienced. The balloon was rotated throughout the flight so everyone had excellent views, and we got some incredible photos. Seeing Luxor from the air was genuinely a memorable experience. I would recommend visiting some of Luxor’s major sites beforehand if possible, because being able to recognize the temples and landmarks from the air makes the flight even more impressive. The crew who packed up the balloons afterward were also incredibly efficient and impressive to watch. They worked extremely quickly. Our return to the hotel was another long process with multiple stops, and we ultimately arrived back at 9:25 a.m., considerably later than the 8:00–8:30 a.m. return time we had originally been given. While in Luxor, we did several tours during our trip and had fantastic experiences with them. Unfortunately, this was the one that fell short—not because of the balloon flight itself, but because of poor communication, unrealistic expectations and disorganization. I would strongly encourage this company to improve communication with guests. If there are delays or if guests are not going to be on the first sunrise flight, simply telling them that would make a huge difference. Also, please don’t advertise coffee/tea and a flight certificate if those items are not actually going to be provided. The balloon flight itself was absolutely worth doing. The pilot and balloon crew were excellent. Just be prepared for a potentially long wait, bring some water, and don’t assume that a “sunrise flight” means you will actually be flying at sunrise.

Hot Air Balloon ride refund
We were looking forward to the Hot air balloon ride on Sept 4, 2026 however we were notified the day before that the Egyptian Aviation Authority had restricted all flights for Sept 4 due to weather conditions. Needless to say we were disappointed. Nice Tours said I could reschedule or submit the refund request. As we were leaving Luxor the next day, I submitted a refund. I had my doubts if I would ever receive my refund. I was thoroughly impressed with their support through the refund request and professionalism. They provided detailed instructions on how to submit the request, even the content for the message. I was pleasantly surprised when I received my refund. Thanks Nice Tours for the quick turnaround. I will certainly recommend Nice Tours and would use them again.

Extremely disappointing experience – not recommended
I booked a hot air balloon flight in Luxor, expecting a well-organised experience. Instead, the operator cancelled due to internal issues, not weather. Other balloons were flying that day. That evening I was first told it was due to bad weather and was offered alternative dates, September 13th or 14th, which was impossible because we already had other activities booked and paid. What followed was extremely disappointing. Instead of simply cancelling and refunding, I spent more than three hours of my holiday being passed from one party to another with no real help. We had just come back from an exhausting trip to Cairo and had barely slept. Rather than enjoying our holiday, I was stuck translating messages, writing emails, and chasing a solution. It was not about the money anymore (more then 106€), but about the wasted time, stress and loss of a precious holiday day. Fortunately, once I finally managed to reach Viator by email, they handled it immediately and resolved the issue very quickly. My advice to other travellers: be very cautious when booking with this “Nice Tours!” !!! If this is an important part of your trip, a last-minute cancellation like this can throw everything off. I was extremely disappointed with the organisation and communication. I cannot recommend it.
