Rethink think this excursion, seriously
This was a 45-minute drive from ship pickup to the mountainside in an open-air bus, during this time you are driving through very littered areas of trash and sadly how the residents of the area live in this squalor of trash and tiny homes made of corrugated tin. The horseback riding takes place in an area beside the dirt road we drove up on and is not a scenic ride. Our excursion also had a "buggy" ride following the horseback riding that is a different story of its own. They warn you when you go to Mexico not to drink the water, this applies in the DR also, but what no one warns you about is also eating the food in Puerta Plata for this excursion. I am not sure there is any kind of water treatment plant on the island, I seriously doubt it. We saw multiple trips of water tanker trucks delivering water on the same dirt road we were on delivering water including to the "resort" we were at for the excursion and then luncheon. Which means all the food prepared (pasta, beans and such) were cooked in this unsanitary water, as you guessed yes, we became very ill within hours of getting back to NCL Prima ship. If we had to do it all over again, we would have one either skipped any excursion on DR or the very least picked one closer to where we got off the ship and more in the area of the ship.

We do not consider it appropriate for our company to be held publicly responsible for a service we do not offer, do not recognize, and which was never performed by our team. We are prepared to provide our records and any necessary documentation to prove that the experience in question is not part of our operations. We appreciate your handling of this matter with the appropriate seriousness and request to be informed of the investigation's outcome and the measures taken regarding this review. Do not book this tour!
The experience did not follow any of the stated expectations that were listed on the ticket. The experience clearly stated that there would be safety equipment (helmets) which were not provided. The tour guides did not teach anything about how the horses reacted etc. luckily I had some experience riding horses in the past. Instead of walking in the countryside we were walking along a road that had vehicles driving on it making it less of a nature ride than was expected. There was also a lunch that was stated as a part of the service on the ticket and it was not provided. Instead the tour guide stated that the lunch is not provided because the food would be cold since it was past lunchtime. If this was the case then it should have been stated when we were communicating via what’s app. We did ride along the beach after leaving the road which was a positive part of the trip. We were then taken to a restaurant and asked to pay for alcoholic beverages and solicited for food items. On the return trip the road was congested with traffic that consisted of dune buggies, and 4-wheelers. We were actually lucky that we were not seriously injured when one of the patrons driving their buggie stepped on the gas and directed their vehicle directly towards me and my partners horses with the driver turning away just in time coming within inches of hitting us and just missing us and the horses and crashing into and over an embankment and coming to a stop. Luckily the horses did not react to the vehicle and buck us off. This is when the lack of helmets became a glaring issue for us. Overall, I was highly disappointed with the level of professionalism displayed by Leonard Tour Transfer. The lack of contrition and disregard for living up to the expectations of the tour is unacceptable!

1st time on a horse
Really good experience, Juan was a great tour guide, he never went too far, I felt safe riding through the jungle with a complete stranger. My horse Apollo is beautiful. I watched the sunset and spoke to a horse and had a great time doing it.
