5/20 Ocho Rios CHUKKA Horseback Riding/Swim trip w/Instructor Lincoln
My cousin and I had a fantastic time. The horses were beautiful, well trained, and very friendly. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our guide Lincoln was outstanding!!! He took great care of us and was very skilled at both horseback riding and customer care, which made the experience one my family will remember fondly. I highly recommend, even if you’re a nervous rider like me, lol:)

Extra costs
Experience itself and the horse handlers were amazing. However it would be nice to know that $10 (cash) was needed for a locker. Also the guide on the bus told us to lock up our phones. It wasn’t necessary and now I don’t have pics of our favorite excursion. The photographer who was there took photos. But we had to purchase them. And you don’t get a hard copy. Only a digital copy via email.

Needs a lot of work, please improve the horses living conditions!!
The bus driver named Pari that picked us up was very inconsiderate to my husband & I on our honeymoon. We were the first to be picked up from Couples Tower Isle & I asked how long the drive we be, was told 40 minutes but we then went to 5 other hotels to pick people up and we’re on the bus for over an hour. After getting there, it was extremely chaotic & unorganized trying to figure out what was next. Then, we were forced to go with a group that was doing cliff jumping numerous of us had not signed up for but we had to just wait for those people rather than doing what we paid for. Then we had much back & forth trying to get to our first activity due to not being given thorough info. The ATV ride was pretty fun but the horses living conditions really upset me. They take them on back to back rides and do not give them water in between there are mud paddocks with 10 horses in one together and most horses ribs are showing. They only allow a weight limit of 220 to ride a horse because they are malnourished & overworked. The way they rode the horses were all in their mouth, yanking on the reigns like crazy. The poor babies did not appear to like their jobs whatsoever & as a horse owner that was hard for me to witness. Although we signed a waiver for the horse ride & we are over 18 & have have decades of equine experience, I was still forced to wear a hot dirty helmet on the land ride. Upon FINALLY returning back from our activities, I was trying to purchase photos but was being rushed by bus driver Pari and then paid $30 for 2 photos and was not even emailed the photos I had selected. Then we were on the bus ride back to the resort for an hour and a half. After dropping everyone else off to their resorts on the bus & only my husband and I left, Pari told us he had to drive the opposite direction to pick people up at another excursion location then after picking them up we stopped at 2 or 3 more resorts before we were finally dropped off last!!!! We were told our excursion was 3.5 hours l, they did not mention whatsoever it would take an entire day of our honeymoon to do. We paid $750 a day to stay at this resort & lost out on one of them because of all the disorganization and disrespectfullness from the bus driver that had 0 regard for our short time on our honeymoon. Can’t say it was for the $400 I spent to do a short/sad horse ride and ATV ride.

Not what the description represents
Gave it 2 stars because it wasn't exactly as advertised. Don't get me wrong, it was fun, but the description says 3-4 hours. What it doesn't say is that is mostly drive time. They had a redundant drive where multiple stops were made before arriving to the stables. They stopped at their office for everyone to sign a waiver, which could have been taken care of online when signing up or in the resort. Once we finally arrived, the actual riding was only an hour. The description states you ride.through two of the oldest plantations, that's not even remotely close. You go around a trail that does have a couple of pretty views but they're short lived. Overall, I enjoyed the horses, however you need to realize what to expect before deciding to purchase this excursion.

Very fun
We have horses and the novelty of riding in the water was exciting. The guides were great, purchasing the picture package was also worthwhile.

Why this scores 51
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Horseback Ride and Swim from Ocho Rios: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ocho Rios.
How much does Horseback Ride and Swim from Ocho Rios cost?
+
Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ocho Rios usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Horseback Ride and Swim from Ocho Rios take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ocho Rios is not rushed.
Is Horseback Ride and Swim from Ocho Rios worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ocho Rios, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Horseback Ride and Swim from Ocho Rios?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Horseback Ride and Swim from Ocho Rios suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Horseback Ride and Swim from Ocho Rios?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ocho Rios can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ocho Rios and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Horseback Ride and Swim from Ocho Rios start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ocho Rios within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ocho Rios?
+
On Outty we rank every Ocho Rios experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Blue Hole only-from Ocho Rios, Ocho Rios Blue Hole and Dunn's River Falls Tour, Blue Hole and Dunn’s River Falls Tour with Lunch and Cocktails at Reggae Hill. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ocho Rios?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ocho Rios?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
