3. Circo Massimo

   The Circus Maximus is an ancient Roman circus located in Rome. Situated in the valley between the Palatine and the Aventine, it is remembered as a site for games since the early history of the city: in the Murcia valley, according to the legend of the Consualia narrated by Livy, the mythical episode of the Rape of the Sabine Women took place, during the games organized by Romulus in honor of the god Consus, with donkey, horse, or mule races, which were also attended by non-competing equines dressed with floral ornaments and exempted from any work for that day. Certainly, the wide flat space and its proximity to the Tiber landing, where trade had taken place since the earliest times, meant that the site was, since the founding of the city, the preferred place to carry out market activities and exchanges with other peoples, and consequently also connected ritual activities (think of the Great Altar of Hercules) and social gatherings, like games and competitions.

6. Spanish Steps

   Piazza di Spagna, at the foot of the Spanish Steps that connect it to the square of the same name, is one of the most famous in Rome. It gets its name from the Palazzo di Spagna, the seat of the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See since 1622. Seen from above, it looks like a butterfly shape, made up of two triangles sharing a tip.
