Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam is as tall as a 60-story building. It was the highest dam in the world when it was completed in 1935. Its base is as thick as two football fields are long. Each spillway, designed to let floodwaters pass without harming the dam itself, can handle the volume of water that flows over Niagara Falls. The amount of concrete used in building it was enough to pave a road stretching from San Francisco to New York City. The dam had to be big. It held back what was then, and still is, the largest man-made lake in the United States. The amount of water in the lake, when full, could cover the whole state of Connecticut ten feet deep. Only a huge dam could stand up to the pressure of so much water. You will also find a Cafe while on Hoover Dam if you want to grab some water, coffee or food you will do so and also a gift store to buy some gifts. You will also see the Lake Mead while at Hoover Dam. Late tour guide!!
Overall we enjoyed this tour. We booked the 7am tour as we had stuff to do that day in the afternoon. The tour operator changed it to 8am early the week before so it was fine as we had notice. Quiet season he said. However the day of the tour we were outside at 745 waiting as we were told to be there for 8. Well the tour operator did not arrive until 830 as he said traffic is always so bad on the I15. Well you know it’s bad so why aren’t you Early. I’d be early for a tour pickup. Also we were waiting at that point for 45 min. So started off annoyed as we had to be back to hotel at 1. We opted to skip the 30 min Las Vegas sign stop to gain back the 30 min he was late. Seeing the dam was great. There were no dam tours that day except a power plant tour and. Exhibit tour so check before you book just in case. We did the exhibit tour and it was only around 30 min and no waits. The power plant tour was 45 min wait and takes about an hour so it doesn’t really fit into the 4.5 hour tour so keep that in mind. Regular dam tour that wasn’t available is about the same the tour operator said so give 2 hours extra for this. We also got to see good spirits pioneer saloon. Overall it was a decent trip at $309 cnd for two people. I do not like tardiness especially when you are paying $155 per person. There were no accidents it was regular traffic so they should be ontime and 5 min early. I would not trust to book with them again as 30 min late is not ok. When he messaged saying he would be late it was at 757 am and it said I’m running a few minutes behind I should be there by 815. Few minutes and 815?? I knew he was going to be longer as could tell by the message. So wondering if he left his house at 8 am.
Response from the operator: Thankyou Crystal for booking this tour and you said you enjoyed the tour despite the time changes. We apologize for that and we hope to do even better next time and also hoping to see you again.Thankyou so much !

Vegas Sign, Hoover Dam, Goodsprings Tour!
Booked this tour for a party of three. Our tour guide Benson picked us up from our hotel and drove us to each destination and some extras! He explained the history of the area and the attractions and answered all our questions about Nevada etc. He patiently waited for us at the locations and took several pictures for us. The experience was excellent and I would highly rate booking this tour! 5 star tour guide!! -Love from Newcastle!
Response from the operator: Thankyou so much valued customer looking forward to see you again in future

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hoover Dam Powerhouse Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Las Vegas.
How much does Hoover Dam Powerhouse Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Las Vegas usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hoover Dam Powerhouse Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Las Vegas is not rushed.
Is Hoover Dam Powerhouse Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Las Vegas, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hoover Dam Powerhouse Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hoover Dam Powerhouse Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hoover Dam Powerhouse Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Las Vegas can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Las Vegas and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hoover Dam Powerhouse Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Las Vegas within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Las Vegas?
+
Las Vegas sells two trips at once: the Strip after dark, and the red-rock desert that starts twenty minutes past the last casino. Helicopter runs to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam half-days and Red Rock Canyon drives all leave early, while show tickets, speakeasy crawls and high-roller dining fill the evening. Outty Ranking weighs operator reliability heavily here, because the gap between a well-run desert tour and a coach-and-queue version is enormous. On Outty we rank every Las Vegas experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group: Valley of Fire Half Day Tour from Las Vegas, Small Group Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains VIP Tour, Grand Canyon West, Hoover Dam Stop, Breakfast, Lunch & Skywalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Las Vegas?
+
October to April. Summer highs above 105F make midday outdoor tours punishing. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Las Vegas?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
