A good day had all of us.
The whole which was run by Paul was excellent. He picked us up on time and gave us a great run down of Hollywood. This was followed by train into Downtown where once again his knowledge was superb. Lunch at the market was followed by the highlight of a trip to the 70th floor of a local hotel for a panoramic view of LA Finished by a walk along Santa Monica pier

A great adventure
Guide Paul led us on a great adventure through not just the main attractions but into wonderful indoor and outdoor spaces we never could have discovered on our own! We walked and took light rail, visiting spaces above ground and below, indoors and out. Paul spoke without notes and could answer all our questions. He assured our comfort and safety at all times and shared his interests and experiences very entertainingly. We got to see the LA that locals know, not just tourist stuff…a great tour, just what we wanted. Thanks, Paul!

Great snapshot of LA in a day ! ! If you are going to book a tour book this one !!
We are a family of four from London staying in Anaheim and booked this tour as it gave us a a snapshot of the sights in LA in exactly what it says it does' LA in a day'. This is a perfect day trip, early start at 7.00am pick up from your hotel in Anaheim and then 12 hours of sightseeing and fun all for under $100 per person, great value. The tour bus is very comfortable and our tour guide/driver, George, was a bundle of energy and fun keeping us entertained and gave us a potted history of LA and its growth since the 1940's. George made the trip a pleasure for us with stops on route for lots of photo opportunities and great advice on where to eat and drink. We were dropped back at our hotel in Anaheim at 7.00pm ,great door to door service, great value for money, great fun if you want a snapshot of LA this company is the one to book.

Tour cancelled last minute
Trip was cancelled 10mins before departure(due to an unfortunate situation with the tour guide), and the tour operator did not have a backup plan. Seemed unprofessional to me. Not a good spot to be in, for a newbie in the city.
Response from the operator: We would have loved to have done the tour for this guest and we certainly regret that we couldn't. The reason that it was canceled at the last minute is because the guide was involved in an accident on the way in to the tour. In situations like that there is nothing we can do - other than call, sincerely apologize and issue a full refund. That is the backup plan in these rare instances. It's happened 3-4 times in the 10 years that The Real Los Angeles Tours has been operating, unfortunately. We obviously hope it won't happen (for lots of reasons), but it's outside of our control.

LA in a Day with K
K was our guide/ driver. We scheduled a 7 1/2 hour tour and she had us out for 10 hours. She made sure everyone saw what the brochure promised and then some. K added a personal touch to our tour by having music about California. She drove us around like she owned this town. She knew every short cut and was more pleasant dealing with traffic issues than anyone who we ever toured with in the past. K made sure we all saw what we expected, played trivia about LA and when we come back to LA we will take another tour with K. The hotel pick up was also a big plus for us. Thank you K for making our stay in LA unforgetable.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hollywood, DTLA and Santa Monica Full-Day Walking and Metro Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Los Angeles.
How much does Hollywood, DTLA and Santa Monica Full-Day Walking and Metro Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $135 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Los Angeles usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hollywood, DTLA and Santa Monica Full-Day Walking and Metro Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Los Angeles is not rushed.
Is Hollywood, DTLA and Santa Monica Full-Day Walking and Metro Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Los Angeles, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hollywood, DTLA and Santa Monica Full-Day Walking and Metro Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hollywood, DTLA and Santa Monica Full-Day Walking and Metro Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hollywood, DTLA and Santa Monica Full-Day Walking and Metro Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Los Angeles can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Los Angeles and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hollywood, DTLA and Santa Monica Full-Day Walking and Metro Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Los Angeles within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Los Angeles?
+
Los Angeles rewards travellers who cluster their bookings by geography rather than by theme. Studio tours and Hollywood walks sit inland, the Malibu and Santa Monica coast runs west, and Griffith Observatory and the canyon hikes work best at dawn or dusk. We weight transport clarity in the ranking here: whether pickup is included changes an LA day more than the tour itself. On Outty we rank every Los Angeles experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hollywood Sign 2.5-Hour Tour with Comedians and Their Dogs, Los Angeles Hollywood Sign Hike: Front, Behind, and Expert Guide, Los Angeles Original 90-Minute Walking Tour to The Hollywood Sign. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Los Angeles?
+
March to May and September to November, for clear air and open canyon roads. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Los Angeles?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
