Lamp making was great. End the hard sell!

The final portion and the main one booked -lantern making was great. The tour guide, instructors were nice and helpful and the coconut coffee was a nice surprise when it rained at the end. I however I did not like the hard sell to purchase clothing, of which I already have enough. The lady was also annoyed when no money was spent. This was irritating as I had already purchased my tour - lamp making and not shopping!

Response from the operator: Dear Donna, Thank for taking your time for the review. We are happy that you enjoyed the lantern making and local coconut coffee. If you do not like shopping, just skip it. Enjoy your holiday. Thank you, TTP Team

Wonderful lantern making with Henry in Hoi An

My best friend and I had fun on this activity. We made a beautiful lantern to take home. Then we went to the silk worm farm, a tailors shop and craft place where they embroidered picturesque scenes of Vietnam! The talent was really incredible! We enjoyed this activity but would have liked a little bit more information about Hoi An and the lanterns and the culture about it. I didnt think to ask about it at the time because i was focused on making my lantern which i was terrible at lol! Henry was wonderful though and took us to a beautiful coffee cafe afterwards where we had egg coffee with ice! It was incredible! Henry also saved us from alot of people trying to sell us things down the street as we were looking around so that was wonderful to have him there letting everyone know in Vietnamese we were there with him! Henry Thank you for a wonderful start in Hoi An! We appreciate you!!

Salubrious is all I can say.

Amazing place with amazing lanterns. Guide was super friendly with great English. The silk worms are so cool. Amazing to see how silk is made. Totally go if you get the chance. Oh and the coconut coffee, the best !!!

Response from the operator: Dear Michelle, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for joining us on the Hoi An City tour with the lantern making and silk experience! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a memorable time exploring the colorful charm of Hoi An and witnessing the intricate process of traditional silk making. It truly is fascinating to see how silk is created—from the tiny silkworms to the beautiful finished fabrics—and we're so glad it left an impression on you. Our team, especially your guide, will be happy to know you appreciated their friendly demeanor and English communication. Sharing the local culture in a warm, engaging way is something we always strive for. And yes—the coconut coffee is a favorite! We agree it’s a must-try while in Vietnam and we’re glad you enjoyed it as much as we do. Thank you once again for taking the time to leave a review. We hope to see you again for more cultural adventures the next time you visit Hoi An! Warm regards, TTP Henry Travel Hoi An team

Fun hands on experience!

Fun hands on experience, especially for young kids! We came on a rainy morning and met up with our tour guide for a quick lesson. Everything was prepped and ready for our arrival, and each member of our family made one. Lanterns collapse easily so they were easy to transport in our luggage back to the US. A fun opportunity and change of pace from all the walking we were doing!

Response from the operator: Dear Megan, Thank you so much for sharing your lovely experience with us! We’re thrilled to hear that your family enjoyed the hands-on lantern-making activity, especially on a rainy morning. It’s wonderful that everything was prepared for you and that each of you got to create a special lantern to take home — what a beautiful souvenir from Hoi An! We completely agree, sometimes a creative activity like this is the perfect break from all the walking, and it’s fantastic that it was fun for the whole family, especially the young ones. We hope your lanterns continue to bring joyful memories of Vietnam back to North Carolina. We’d love to welcome you all again anytime you return! Warmest wishes, TTP Henry Travel Hoi An team

Sticky fun for the fam

This was an outstanding experience. We came to celebrate my daughter's 7th birthday with her 4yo sister in tow. The team was helpful and fun. We produced a lot of laughter, a little bit of chaos and 4 lovely Lanterns (foldable). Loved it.

How long does Hoi An City tour -Lantern Making and Silk Making process take?

+

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hoi An is not rushed.

Is Hoi An City tour -Lantern Making and Silk Making process worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hoi An, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Hoi An City tour -Lantern Making and Silk Making process?

Is Hoi An City tour -Lantern Making and Silk Making process suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Hoi An City tour -Lantern Making and Silk Making process?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoi An can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoi An and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Hoi An?

+

On Outty we rank every Hoi An experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HOI AN Hidden Gems in Rural Villages & River Islands PRIVATE TOUR, Coconut Jungle Eco & Hoi An City Tour With Boat Ride, Cooking Class Hoi An:Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hoi An?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hoi An?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
