Great way to explore wineries
We went on a half day wine tour with our lovely guide Paul, he was so knowledgeable of Hobart and Tassie. Visited a total of 4 wineries, had a great time and got dropped back at our hotel (with plenty of wine bottles). Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear you had such a great time exploring Tasmania’s wine country with Paul. He’ll be thrilled to know his knowledge of Hobart and Tasmania helped make your day so enjoyable. Four wineries, plenty of great wine, and a hotel drop-off with a few extra bottles sounds like a perfect half-day in the Coal River Valley! 🍷 Thank you for choosing Apple Isle Wine Tours and for the recommendation. We hope to welcome you back to Tasmania for another wine adventure in the future!

We had a wonderful day...
We had a wonderful day with Andy. Knowing not a lot about wine, it was a great experience to try a little of everything.

Solo travler
Andy was a great taxi but other than transport didn't do much! The vibe was certainly created by the group and not the tour guide, even having to use our own phone to put on music. It would be great if at the end of each tasting we had 15 or 20 minutes to select a wine we really liked and drink it outside. I would of really liked commentary from Andy himself about the winery's or something extra than being just a taxi. Cheers
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear you enjoyed Andy’s driving, and we appreciate your suggestions regarding additional time at each winery and more commentary. Our tours are designed as wine experiences rather than party buses, and we need to balance the experience with arrival and departure commitments at each cellar door. Where time allows, guests are given an opportunity to browse and purchase wines they particularly enjoy, although our tour schedule generally doesn’t allow for additional time to sit and consume wine by the glass at each venue. In relation to music, our crew also need to be mindful that every group is made up of different guests, with different preferences. While we’re happy to accommodate music where appropriate, we don’t want to assume that everyone wants music playing throughout the journey. We also take on board your comments regarding commentary. Our guides have different styles, and while the focus is on providing a relaxed and enjoyable experience, we understand that some guests would appreciate more information about the wineries, wines and region along the way. We genuinely appreciate the feedback and will continue to look at ways we can enhance the experience while maintaining the structure and quality of our tours.

Not value for $$
We got changed from 9:30am to 11:30am. It was suppose to be a half day wine tour which got changed into a mid day wine tour and were picked up by Andy at 11:35am.We weren’t allowed to play any music during our travels and weren’t told much about any wineries that we visited. Each winery was a $10-$15 wine tasting and no food was provided (4 total) only 1 cheese platter and 4 chocolates. The best thing about the experience were the other guests.

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hobart Half Day Wine and Food Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hobart.
How much does Hobart Half Day Wine and Food Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $189 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hobart usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hobart Half Day Wine and Food Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hobart is not rushed.
Is Hobart Half Day Wine and Food Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 108 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hobart, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hobart Half Day Wine and Food Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hobart Half Day Wine and Food Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Hobart Half Day Wine and Food Tour?
+
Around 38 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hobart can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hobart and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hobart Half Day Wine and Food Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hobart within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hobart?
+
On Outty we rank every Hobart experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include kunanyi/Mt Wellington Explorer Bus- Return Tour (2.5 hours), All Inclusive Bruny Island Day Tour Plus Guided Lighthouse Tour, Bruny Island Traveller - Gourmet Tasting and Sightseeing Day Trip from Hobart. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hobart?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hobart?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
