Possible scam
Everything went well 20min into the tour we set back into port, server on board said something went wrong but that when we arrived we could stay on till 6pm, but it was to run till 7pm, we did not get compensation or even an extra drink, it all seemed like a scam maybe better yo pay for tour that includes a dinner, one thing was off all the crew seemed confused as to why we were kicked off

However, we would like to clarify an important point for future travelers. This situation was not a scam or a decision made by ICON Saigon Cruise. Shortly after the cruise began, an unexpected force majeure situation occurred and the Port Authority did not grant/continue the required departure clearance, meaning the vessel was legally required to return to the pier and could not continue its scheduled journey. Safety regulations and instructions from the authorities must always take priority, and unfortunately these decisions are beyond the control of the cruise operator. Because the situation developed unexpectedly, some of our onboard staff were also receiving updated information at the same time, which may explain why the communication initially appeared unclear. We sincerely apologize that this was not explained more effectively to you at the time. Most importantly, because the cruise could not be completed, your booking was fully refunded. We would therefore like to reassure future guests that there was no intention to shorten the experience or charge for a service that could not be provided. We regret that circumstances beyond our control disrupted your evening and appreciate your understanding that maritime operations are always subject to Port Authority approval and safety requirements. Misleading Description and Disappointing Experience
We paid over AUD $100 for the Ho Chi Minh City Icon Saigon Luxury Dinner Cruise, expecting the romantic evening advertised, complete with live music, a relaxing atmosphere, and a luxury dining experience. Instead, after boarding and setting sail, we were informed there was a private party being held in a shared area of the boat. The atmosphere was completely different from what had been advertised. Loud music from the private party competed with separate music being played for the rest of the passengers, making it almost impossible to have a conversation. The private event featured men watching performances by scantily clad dancers, which was not at all the romantic ambience we had booked or expected. Members of the private party were also constantly walking around the boat filming, and there were repeated wolf whistles from the group, making the experience even more uncomfortable. We were seated at the back of the boat, received no live entertainment whatsoever, and our meals were served from large insulated coolers (eskies), which certainly didn't reflect the "luxury dinner cruise" we had paid for. Unfortunately, after returning to our hotel that evening, a few members of our group developed upset stomachs. While we can't say with certainty what caused it, it added to what was already a very disappointing experience. Had the listing disclosed that a private function would be taking place alongside other paying guests, we would never have booked this cruise. Once the boat had departed, we had no option to leave and simply had to endure the remainder of the evening. This experience bore little resemblance to the description on Viator. If private events are going to dominate the cruise, this should be clearly disclosed before booking so guests can make an informed decision. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this cruise.

They are not simply taken from insulated containers and served to guests. Food ingredients and prepared dishes are handled according to our food-safety procedures, and meal samples are retained and checked in accordance with our safety-control process before service. We are sorry to hear that some members of your group experienced stomach discomfort later that evening. However, without medical confirmation or evidence establishing the cause, it would not be appropriate to conclude that this resulted from the food served on the cruise. We take food safety very seriously, and no food-safety issue was identified from the service concerned. We understand that the atmosphere created by a private event may not have matched the romantic experience you had anticipated. Your comments have therefore been shared with our team so that communication surrounding private functions and seating arrangements can be made even clearer in advance. This situation was not representative of the usual ICON Saigon Cruise experience, and we remain committed to providing our guests with professional service, quality dining and an enjoyable evening on the Saigon River.
