What you'll see and do
The Venerable Thich Quang Duc Monument
The monument stands at the intersection where Thich Quang Duc, a Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk, self-immolated on June 11, 1963. This was not a random act of despair, but a carefully planned and incredibly courageous protest against the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government of President Ngo Dinh Diem. The Diem regime, which was Roman Catholic, had a history of discriminatory policies against the Buddhist majority.

It was interesting to see...
It was interesting to see a residential part of Saigon. But the trip did not include lunch as advertised in the tour itinerary. And the start was 8.30 not 8 as advertised.

A Must-Do Experience
This tour was one of the best experiences we had in Ho Chi Minh City. From start to end, our guide made us feel comfortable and treated us like friends, not tourists. We explored small streets and local spots that we never would have discovered on our own. The food was incredible and very diverse. Every stop offered something new, from street food to cozy coffee spots where we learned about Vietnam’s coffee culture. During all this our guide told stories about the city’s history, culture, and daily life, which made the whole experience much more meaningful. Having a private group made the tour run very smoothly. We could take our time, ask questions, and really get to know where we were and what we were looking at/eating. It felt personal and relaxed, a lot like spending the afternoon with a friend who was eager to show off their city! If you love great food, rich history, and authentic local experiences, this is the tour to book. It is four hours you will absolutly remember years from now about your trip!

Fantastic way to experience and learn about HCMC. Guide had perfect English and was so interesting to really get the Vietnamese perspective of history. And the food! So happy I took this tour.

Delicious tour of HCMC!
This was an awesome food tour. Everything we ate was delicious, and the guide even allowed me to try some dishes outside of the official itinerary. Highly recommend!

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ho Chi Minh Best Walking Tour: Food, Coffee & History: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ho Chi Minh City.
How much does Ho Chi Minh Best Walking Tour: Food, Coffee & History cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ho Chi Minh City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ho Chi Minh Best Walking Tour: Food, Coffee & History take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ho Chi Minh City is not rushed.
Is Ho Chi Minh Best Walking Tour: Food, Coffee & History worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ho Chi Minh Best Walking Tour: Food, Coffee & History?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ho Chi Minh Best Walking Tour: Food, Coffee & History suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Ho Chi Minh Best Walking Tour: Food, Coffee & History?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ho Chi Minh City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ho Chi Minh Best Walking Tour: Food, Coffee & History start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ho Chi Minh City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City?
+
On Outty we rank every Ho Chi Minh City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour From HCM, Cu Chi Tunnels Small-Group Tour: Vietnam War Underground Network, Cu Chi underground tour - Learn Vietnam war with others. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
