    August 2026 tour

Great tour, Nicole is very knowledgeable of the area. Good personality with good mixture of humor.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the review! As a small company competing with corporations, we really appreciate you!

    Highly knowledgeable guide

The guide was extremely experienced and knowledgeable. She was very patient and responsive to our interests and questions. She hasd done a lot of research and could explain both fact and fiction surrounding famous haunted sites. She also shared stories of direct experience and showed spooky photos. We learned a lot from the experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the great review! While the legends and lore of Savannah are part of the experience, knowing what the real stories are can make them even more hair-raising! We strive to help make our guests' Savannah experiences positive, memorable, and, of course, spooky.

    Haunted history with humor

Had a good time learning some history. The family thought there would be more ghost stories than history but I enjoyed it. Nicole made it lite and fun. She has a quirky sense of humor that I really appreciate.

Response from the operator: Hi, thank you for your review, and we're glad you had fun! Ghost stories are part of every stop, so that's surprising to hear. The thing about Savannah's ghost stories is that they are about people who actually lived in our historic city, so history is the natural companion of these tales. This is something all ghost tour companies in Savannah hear about from time to time, even if they are just repeating legends. To manage expectations, we try to emphasize that we are History and Haunts. Glad you still had fun!

    Awkward

Unfortunately, this ghost tour didn’t live up to the hype. To be fair, the heat and bugs were brutal, but that’s Savannah in the middle of July and obviously not the company’s fault. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the city’s history, but her delivery was so monotone that it was difficult to stay engaged. The most uncomfortable part of the tour came when, in front of the entire group of about 15 people, she singled out my friend and me and insisted we sit down because she thought we needed a break from standing. She didn’t ask anyone else, and we hadn’t said we were tired or uncomfortable. It put us in an awkward position and honestly left us feeling embarrassed, as if she assumed we couldn’t handle the walk. Whether that was her intention or not, it made for a very strange experience. Overall, the historical information was interesting, but the presentation and uncomfortable interaction overshadowed it. I wouldn’t recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Hi, what an interesting take. You are definitely remembered. And so is the other girl who was also drinking and looking unwell, who just moments before had to sit down on the ground and be carried to her car by her boyfriend. That tour happened at 7 pm, when the heat is still strong, and your group of 3 showed up drinking. The tropical heat is no joke. Drinking is not a good idea when standing in the heat. Your friend actually looked very sick at the Owens-Thomas location, and we have seen many people pass out or become sick when using such questionable judgment as drinking alcohol in that environment. I'm sorry you were embarrassed, but asking you to sit for the next story, which was a relatively long one, is a decision we stand by. We are here to be guides in our city, and that was good guidance. I'm sure you would feel much worse if one of you, such as your peaked friend, had passed out. A busted face on the cobblestones is way worse than being embarrassed. You should actually be thanking us for caring and offering you a seat, instead of giving a small business a bad review.

History and Haunts Ghost Walking Tour by Local Author: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Savannah.

How much does History and Haunts Ghost Walking Tour by Local Author cost?

    +

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Savannah usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does History and Haunts Ghost Walking Tour by Local Author take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Savannah is not rushed.

Is History and Haunts Ghost Walking Tour by Local Author worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 38 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Savannah, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule History and Haunts Ghost Walking Tour by Local Author?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is History and Haunts Ghost Walking Tour by Local Author suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book History and Haunts Ghost Walking Tour by Local Author?

    +

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Savannah can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Savannah and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does History and Haunts Ghost Walking Tour by Local Author start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Savannah within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Savannah?

    +

Savannah is a walking city with a dense guide market, which means quality spread is wide. Historic district walks, Bonaventure Cemetery trips, trolley hop-on routes and ghost tours with tavern access make up most bookings. Outty Ranking leans on licensed-guide status and group size, since the squares get loud once a tour passes twenty people. On Outty we rank every Savannah experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historic Savannah Guided Walking Tour, Bonaventure Cemetery Walking Tour with Transportation, Haunted Savannah Booze and Boos Ghost Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Savannah?

    +

March to May for azaleas, or October to November for cool evenings. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Savannah?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
