About this experience
Discover Spanish food & Barcelona history. As we venture through narrow back alleys & historic squares, we’ll learn about Barcelona from Roman times to the medieval golden era. With 3 stops in distinct restaurants we’ll also show you the broad variety of tapas! After meeting in the Roman heart of the city it is time to build up your appetite! We will start our history walk through the oldest part of Barcelona: the Gothic Quarter. Our first stop is a traditional pinchos bar: snacks connected by cocktail stick to a slice of bread. Afterwards we´ll pass through the medieval center: El Born. Learn about craftsmen & rich merchants of that time who left an impressive legacy with their palaces & the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. Our next tapas bar is known for its regionality - all the food comes from local fields & farms. We will try a variety of elaborated & high quality tapas. After a desert stop you´ll have seen the old town of the city while having tried out a range of local food.

It was just wonderful!!! From the time of booking we had contact. A good feeling 😊 Picked up at the hotel we went into the narrow streets of the Barri Gòtic. Strolling around Barcelona, stopping at beautiful tapas bars, enjoying Spanish food - a perfect start to our weekend in this great city!😎
Response from the operator: Vielen herzlichen Dank, Rita, für dieses tolle Feedback! Es freut mich sehr, dass euch die Mischung aus Altstadt-Erkundung und Tapas-Genuss eurer Gruppe so gut gefallen hat! Auf hoffentlich bald in Barcelona. Alles Gute, Christian

Perfect start to a Barcelona stay!
Michael gave us a wonderful food and history tour in Barcelona. He showed us beautiful squares that we never would have found. The food was all wonderful and personalized for us, ending with the best churros! We did this tour on our first day in Barcelona (a few hours after our red eye from the US) and it was the perfect way to kick off our first visit to Spain!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Melissa! It was a pleasure sharing my passion for Barcelona history and its food with you and your family. Happy you all enjoyed the afternoon that we spent together. Wishing you all the best, Michael

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Historic Walking Tour & Food Experience - Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.
How much does Historic Walking Tour & Food Experience - Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $105 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Historic Walking Tour & Food Experience - Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.
Is Historic Walking Tour & Food Experience - Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Historic Walking Tour & Food Experience - Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Historic Walking Tour & Food Experience - Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Historic Walking Tour & Food Experience - Private Tour?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Historic Walking Tour & Food Experience - Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Barcelona?
+
Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Barcelona?
+
May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Barcelona?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
