AMAZING TOUR OF HISTORIC MEXICO CITY CENTER
Our family recently took this tour and it was a perfect introduction to the historic center of this amazing city. Great overview of the Aztec origins of this beautiful city, tour of amazing baroque cathedral and historic streets of down town. The finale of the tour was a visit Palacio de Bella Artes with the powerful and inspiring murals by Diego Rivera and his contemporaries. HECTOR, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the treasures of this beautiful city!

Enjoyable and professional
Our guide Hector Lara was excellent! He provided a wealth of history and knowledge on the National Museum of Anthropology, the museum of Templo Major and impressionable murals at the Palacio de Bella’s Artes. Hector is very personable and is a passionate tour guide. We enjoyed his company and would highly recommend him! Teresa

Fantastic Tour of Mexico City
Hector is the best, most flexible guide we have ever had. Along with picking us up at our Airbnb in his clean vehicle, he outlined what was planned for our day. He provided water which was most appreciated and asked if we needed to stop for anything along our drive for our tour. This tour was the Zocalo de la Ciudad de Mexico. He parked at a location that allowed us to walk to main sites in downtown Mexico City. The Templo Mayor Museum, Metropolitan Cathedral and Palacio de Bellas Artes. We walked the historic streets and enjoyed Hectors tour as he informed us of important facts and history at various points. Hector is very knowledgeable of Mexico City and its culture. Hector is a very experienced guide and is familiar with other locations in Mexico. We were continuing to Cancun and he provided some recommendations for tours. His recommendations were great and we followed his thoughts on what and where we should tour. We highly recommend this tour and especially if you have Hector as your guide.

Hector is the best guide in Mexico City
Hector picked up our group of two couples at the airport and we hired him as a driver and for private tours for three full days. A friend of ours had recently used Hector and he came highly recommended. Sites that we toured included the pyramids, Xochimilco, The National Museum of Anthropology, The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Templo Mayor Museum, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, and a food tour in Coyocan. Hector treated us as his family. He is an experienced guide with an expansive source of history, culture, and knowledge of Mexico City. Hector was always prompt, greeted us with a smile and cold drinks to be shared throughout the day. Hector’s car was clean and he offered to play the type of music we liked. Hector picked us up very early on our day of departure and drove us to the airport to catch our flights. We will refer any friends or family planning to travel to Mexico City to Hector. We traveled with my sister and brother in law who continued their Mexican journey on to Cancun. Hector has a business partner in Cancun who was able to continue the excellent guide service in that city as well. We are experienced users of guides in several international locations and Hector would be placed at the top of our list for exceptional guide services.
Response from the operator: Hi Rich, thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Tripadvisor community. We're so glad you and your friends enjoyed your time with us and that you felt very safe. Above all, we're glad you enjoyed your time with Hector. He's truly an excellent guide. We hope to see you back in Mexico City or along the Riviera Maya soon. Best regards.

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Historic Center of Mexico City Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Historic Center of Mexico City Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $800 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Historic Center of Mexico City Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Historic Center of Mexico City Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Historic Center of Mexico City Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Historic Center of Mexico City Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Historic Center of Mexico City Private Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Historic Center of Mexico City Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
