About this experience
This private 3-hour walk offers a focused introduction to Hiroshima, combining key Peace Memorial Park landmarks with places that show how the city lived — and recovered — beyond the park itself. We begin outside the memorial area at Shirakami Shrine and the Former Bank of Japan, two sites that place Hiroshima’s history in a broader city context before entering the Peace Park. A short ride on Hiroshima’s historic streetcar is included, offering a relaxed and very local way to move through the city. The walk through Peace Memorial Park focuses on both the well-known landmarks and quieter, lesser-visited corners of the park. Along the way, I share stories and details that are often missed, allowing the space to be experienced with context, curiosity, and a strong sense of place rather than simply following a checklist of monuments. This tour is ideal for travelers with limited time who want depth, clarity, and local perspective — without committing to a longer half-day experience.

Delve into Hiroshima history
This was thorough tour, covering all the major sites, with lots of history shared in an easy to understand way.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! I'm really glad you enjoyed the tour and that you found the history engaging and easy to follow. It was a pleasure spending the afternoon with you and your families. Wishing you all the best, and thanks again for your recommendation! Alex

Alex gave a very thorough...
Alex gave a very thorough overview of Hiroshima and the history of the events. We had also told him we were staying in Miyajima that evening and he beautifully tied in some elements from Miyajima to the sites we saw. Alex was also very flexible with time and we wanted an earlier start at 8AM. I would recommend that and if you do, it ties into one very important aspect of the tour, especially for any history buff like myself.
Response from the operator: Thank you Mark, really appreciate it. It was a great day exploring Hiroshima together — starting early really adds that quieter feel, and I’m glad you enjoyed how I connected the Hiroshima and Miyajima story. Talking with both of you also gave me a few new insights along the way. And I’m very impressed you made it up Mt. Misen — sounds like you had a full Miyajima experience! All the best, Alex

Beautiful Hiroshima
Alex was a wonderful guide and made Hiroshima's history easy to understand and deeply meaningful. The 3-hour walking tour was well paced, thoughtful, and full of local insight that we wouldn't have picked up on our own. A great introduction to the city, and highly recommended. Go and experienced it.... Otto

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hiroshima Peace & History: 3-Hr Private Walk with Local Guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hiroshima.
How much does Hiroshima Peace & History: 3-Hr Private Walk with Local Guide cost?
+
Prices start at $25000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hiroshima usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hiroshima Peace & History: 3-Hr Private Walk with Local Guide take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hiroshima is not rushed.
Is Hiroshima Peace & History: 3-Hr Private Walk with Local Guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hiroshima, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hiroshima Peace & History: 3-Hr Private Walk with Local Guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hiroshima Peace & History: 3-Hr Private Walk with Local Guide suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hiroshima Peace & History: 3-Hr Private Walk with Local Guide?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hiroshima can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hiroshima and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hiroshima Peace & History: 3-Hr Private Walk with Local Guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hiroshima within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hiroshima?
+
On Outty we rank every Hiroshima experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Peaceful Hiroshima & Miyajima UNESCO 1 Day Bus Tour, Hiroshima Peace (Heiwa) Walking Tour at World Heritage Sites, Hiroshima & Miyajima in 1 Day: Private Tour, Licensed Guide. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hiroshima?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hiroshima?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
