Incredible experience with Rae at Hawaii Island Insider Tours
We were on our daughters make a wish trip and one of our days for a snorkel trip had to be moved. boy are we glad that happened. It opened a day for us to book a trip with Hawaii Island Insider tours. We met Rae as strangers and left as friends forever. Rae is the best! words can not express how good he is at giving his tours. Absolutely no stress but keeps things on track and rolling. Rae provided all kinds of snacks and drinks. In the slower season the prices may reflect a discount you don’t get that as service from Rae his level of courtesy, knowledge and personality prove a worth beyond what anyone could ever pay. Look forward to the day our paths cross again.
Response from the operator: This means a lot to me. I’m so glad the change in plans brought us together. Spending the day with your family was special, and I’m grateful I got to be a small part of your daughter’s trip. You’re right, we started as strangers and left as friends. I hope our paths cross again too.

Grateful...
We really enjoyed our one-day tour in Hilo. Ray (our tour guide) was very knowledgeable about the island and explained everything and answered every question. He also gave us plenty of time to explore each stop and offered snacks, drinks, etc. We were on the NCL cruise, and we got a much better deal with this tour. Highly recommended. Thanks!
Response from the operator: Thank you for spending your day in Hilo with me! I’m glad you had time to enjoy the stops and that I could answer your questions along the way. I appreciate you choosing us for your day off the ship.

Excellent
Cannot say enough good things about this tour and guide, Rae. Truly had a wonderful time. Pick up and drop off were extremely easy, Rae was incredibly kind and accommodating. Adjusting our tour as needed/requested. Offering additional stops and scenic routes. He was so knowledgeable and had fun trivia with prizes, snacks and drinks for the kids and adults, and even offered use of his children’s car seats for our two little ones on the tour. Can’t recommend enough!
Response from the operator: Thank you! I had a great time with your family. I’m glad the car seats made it easier to bring the little ones along, and that everyone enjoyed the stops and trivia. I appreciate you trusting me with your day in Hilo. Rae

Amazing Tour of Hawaii
What a wonderful day spent exploring the island with Rae. He picked us up outside the cruise port and greeted us with gorgeous handmade leis AND Hawaiian snacks on snacks. Born and raised on the island, he is very knowledgeable on the sites. He customized the tour according to what we wanted to do and got us back to our ship with plenty of time to spare. WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!! Highly recommend
Response from the operator: Thank you! I had a great time showing you around Hilo. I’m glad you enjoyed the leis and snacks, and that we could shape the day around what you wanted to see. I appreciate you recommending the tour! Rae

Hawaii Island Insider Tours is simply OUTSTANDING!
Rae was simply OUTSTANDING! We had a group of 13 family members with a time constraint (due back on the cruise ship). He tailored our visit to the available time, taking us to many points of interest including Akaka and Rainbow Falls, Volcanoes National Park and the Black Sand Beach. His back stories were interesting and informative. A super friendly person who made the most of our available time. Just a super guy that I will use the next time we get to the Big Island! MAHALO!!
Response from the operator: Mahalo! It was a pleasure spending the day with your family. With 13 of you and a ship to get back to, I’m glad we could fit in the falls, volcano, and black sand beach. I’d love to see you all again next time you’re on the island. Rae

Hilo Private Shore Excursion: Volcanoes, Waterfalls & Beaches: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.
How much does Hilo Private Shore Excursion: Volcanoes, Waterfalls & Beaches cost?
+
Prices start at $1,699 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hilo Private Shore Excursion: Volcanoes, Waterfalls & Beaches take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.
Is Hilo Private Shore Excursion: Volcanoes, Waterfalls & Beaches worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hilo Private Shore Excursion: Volcanoes, Waterfalls & Beaches?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Hilo Private Shore Excursion: Volcanoes, Waterfalls & Beaches suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hilo Private Shore Excursion: Volcanoes, Waterfalls & Beaches?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hilo Private Shore Excursion: Volcanoes, Waterfalls & Beaches start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch, KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?
+
April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
