A fantastic trip
A fantastic day out . Maris was a great guide. He gave us so much information and answered any questions we had. He took photos for us, He made the bus trip pass very quickly. We spent about an hour at the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania. It was ample time to move around and you weren’t rushing. It’s definitely a must see visit as it’s so unique. We were blessed with the weather and that really added to the experience. You can buy your own cross from €5 if you wanted to leave one.It wasn’t overly crowded so you could stop and look at the crosses. There is a nice gift shop also. Toilets cost €1 to use and you can pay by card. Then we went to Jelgava which was once Latvia’s second biggest city. Maris guided us around the Orthodox Church and showed us some of the sights and explained the history. Then we went for a lovely lunch by the water. We preordered on the bus, you could also buy delicious homemade cakes. Then we went to the castle and for a drop of Latvian liqueur before we headed back to Riga. It was a great day and I would highly recommend it to those who are in Riga for a few days. It’s nice to hear out of the city and see a little bit more of the country and even cross into the neighbouring Lituania. Thanks again to Maris
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. Māris will be delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the day and his stories along the way. Having enough time to experience the Hill of Crosses without feeling rushed, followed by a completely different side of the day in Jelgava, is exactly the kind of balance we want our guests to enjoy. We really appreciate your recommendation to other travellers looking to explore beyond Riga, and we’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to Māris. Latvia Guide Tours Team

Give Māris a raise!
I had Māris as a tour guide today for Hill of Crosses and Jelgava tour. What stood out to me the most is his enthusiasm and deep knowledge about history. I have done a lot of day tours over the years in various countries and I really appreciated the company making sure I am aware of meeting point change the day before and also the minibus is very comfortable. I wish there are more tour guides like Māris, he made the experience much more fun.
Response from the operator: Thank you for such kind words about Māris. His enthusiasm and deep knowledge of history clearly made a real difference to your day, and we’ll be very happy to pass your feedback on to him. We also appreciate you mentioning the communication before the tour and the comfort of the minibus — these details matter to us just as much as the tour itself. Latvia Guide Tours Team

Great excursion, great guide
Tour was cancelled the day before however recievee communication from the tour operator and offered to put us on another trip which had a very simiar itinerary or full refund. We opted for the other trip and was not disappointed, the guide was excellent and all went very smoothly.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience. We know that having a tour cancelled is never ideal, so we’re very pleased that the alternative worked out so well for you. Clear communication and finding the best possible solution for our guests is very important to us. It’s great to hear that the new tour, the guide and the overall experience did not disappoint. Hill of Crosses and Jelgava Tour 2 Countries in 1 Day: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Riga.
How much does Hill of Crosses and Jelgava Tour 2 Countries in 1 Day cost?
+
Prices start at $63 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Riga usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hill of Crosses and Jelgava Tour 2 Countries in 1 Day take?
+
Plan for about 7.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Riga is not rushed.
Is Hill of Crosses and Jelgava Tour 2 Countries in 1 Day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 93 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 225 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Riga, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hill of Crosses and Jelgava Tour 2 Countries in 1 Day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hill of Crosses and Jelgava Tour 2 Countries in 1 Day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hill of Crosses and Jelgava Tour 2 Countries in 1 Day?
+
Around 79 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Riga can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Riga and add a light layer if any part of the 7.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hill of Crosses and Jelgava Tour 2 Countries in 1 Day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Riga within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Riga?
+
On Outty we rank every Riga experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 2 countries! Hill of Crosses, Rundale Palace and Bauska castle, Discover Riga Bike Tour, 5,5 Hour Small Group Tour to Hill of Crosses from Riga. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Riga?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Riga?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
