About this experience
From the elegant heights of Vomero to the lively alleys of the Spanish Quarter, this tour explores two very different sides of Naples united by a love of bold, traditional cooking. We’ll begin in Vomero with espresso and sfogliatella before tasting stuffed pagnottiello, delicate montanara and a selection of Campanian cheeses. After taking in the views from San Martino, we’ll ride the funicular down into the bustling streets of Montesanto. There, we’ll sample marinated anchovies, fried seafood, fried macaroni and traditional taralli before sitting down for local wine and classic trattoria dishes. We’ll continue through the Spanish Quarter for pizza, passing the city’s tributes to Diego Maradona, and finish with a limoncello spritz, artisanal gelato or one last Neapolitan coffee.

A great way to experience Naples
This was hands down the best food tour we have ever taken. Chiara was a wonderful engaging guide with a passion for sharing her love of Naples. Seeing the contrast between the upper and lower neighborhoods of Naples was an experience we will never forget. All of the food stops were well planned out and the food and drink choices delicious. At no time did we feel rushed or stressed. We have taken many food tours throughout the world and this is the second tour we have taken with Culinary Backsteets. You get what you pay for and this tour was definitely worth the cost. Bravo Chiara, until next time. Ciao. Bob and Melissa

A unique delicious way to experience a city
My 2nd visit to Napoli and the 2nd tour I did there. Every friendly, knowledgable Chiara was my guide again. She showed me and 2 other people two very different neighbourhoods of a city I love. Culinary Backstreets never fails to bring you to all the special places that you would not find yourself. Their tours always give me the feeling that I learned unique things about the city. And I love to meet local people, the love they put in everything they sell, prepare for years. Lots of them are family businesses that can be so proud of what they do. I look out to explore more cities with CB

Many "highs" and no "lows"
This was a wonderful way to experience two very different sides of Naples, from the “high” parts of the city to the lively, authentic backstreets below. Our guide was the best, she was excellent — knowledgeable, engaging, and able to bring together the food, neighborhoods, history, and architecture in a way that made the city feel much richer and more understandable. The food was delicious, the pace was perfect, and the tour gave us a much deeper appreciation for Naples than we would have had on our own.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review of your time exploring the complex and lively neighborhoods of Naples. We are thrilled that the walk provided a deeper appreciation for the city's daily life and history. Your participation helps us continue supporting the unsung heroes of the kitchen and preserving these vital culinary traditions.

Worth Every Dollar!
This is the second food tour I have done with Culinary Backstreets. I did the Two Markets, Two Continents in Istanbul, and this time I did the Highs and Lows Tour in Naples with my wife. Our tour guide was Marina, and she was fantastic. It was very easy to meet up with her. We connected via WhatsApp and the meetup went smoothly. She was friendly, outgoing, and easy to get along with. She took us to eight different spots and helped us choose what to eat, offering her own recommendations along the way. Sometimes, street food can be intimidating and I don’t think I would have found any of these specific spots on my own, nor would I have know to try some of this traditional Neapolitan cuisine without her guidance. Beyond the food, Marina is also an expert on Naples and can speak at length about its history, why the food is the way it is, how things came to be in Naples, and how Neapolitan culture spread across the world. I would say this tour was the highlight of my time in Naples and worth every single dollar spent on it. I would highly recommend a tour with Culinary Backstreets in any city where they operate.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the review and for joining us on a second journey! We are so glad you enjoyed exploring the complex history and vibrant daily life of Naples with us. Thank you for supporting our local unsung heroes and helping to preserve these beautiful Neapolitan culinary traditions.

Why this scores 81
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.
How much does High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.
Is High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Naples?
+
On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Naples?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Naples?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
