Hidden Trails is an amazing experience
I have done amazing hiking trips all over the world and Hidden Trails of Iceland is now my favourite. I don't have the words to accurately describe just how awesome it was. I have done hiking trips with great companies and guides but Amarok and our guide, Johann top the list. Would go anywhere anytime with them. So much so that I am looking at doing another Amarok Iceland trip next year.
Response from the operator: Wow, thank you so much for this review! ❤️ It means a lot to hear that Hidden Trails of Iceland made it to the top of your list, especially after all the incredible trips you’ve done around the world. Jóhann will be so happy to hear this too! We had such a great time having you along, and we’d absolutely love to have you back in Iceland next year. Sounds like we might have another adventure to plan together! 😊

Amazing Trek through a One of a Kind Wilderness
Amarok’s Hidden Trails Adventure is a true gem! The stunning highlands landscape shined brightly with the itinerary Albert and Monica created. Our wonderful guide Johann displayed strong leadership and built cohesiveness amongst our group. He is just a great guide and human! I particularly enjoyed Johann’s openness sharing his Icelandic heritage and culture along with a lot of backcountry highlands knowledge we hiked thru which he gained from the many seasons he has spent in the mountains of his homeland. I loved it all! Thank you!!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this fantastic review! It means the world to us to hear how much you loved your Hidden Trails Adventure. ❤️ We’re especially happy that the itinerary created by us allowed you to experience the Icelandic Highlands at their best. And we couldn’t agree more about Jóhann! His leadership, warmth, and deep connection to Iceland’s mountains and culture are such a special part of the experience. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with him as we know he’ll be thrilled to hear that his stories, Icelandic heritage, and years of backcountry experience helped make your journey so meaningful. Thank you for joining us and for embracing everything the Highlands had to offer. We loved having you along, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Iceland! 🇮🇸🏔️

Will you want to do it all over again? Without a doubt!
Hidden Trails adventure was truly one of a kind and I think it may have spoiled other hiking trips for me 😀 The landscapes were absolutely incredible, changing constantly along the way. But what made this experience so special - was the feeling of being fully immersed into magical Icelandic nature. There were moments when it felt like we were only people for kilometres around, and it felt absolutely unreal! Also our guides, Albert and Remi, were the best: very passionate about the surrounding nature and always happy to share the knowledge and answer all our questions (and we had a lot of questions :)) They made sure that everyone felt comfortable, cooked Michelin star meals in the middle of nowhere and even entertained us with live music. Raw nature, cosy huts and great people definitely made this experience a trip to remember!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review! 😀 We’re absolutely thrilled to hear that Hidden Trails gave you such a memorable experience…and we’ll happily take the blame if we’ve spoiled hiking trips for you! 😉 Looking forward to guiding you again in the future!

Spectacular trip and guide!
This was a true adventure in Iceland. Our Icelandic guide, Johann, was wonderful. He gave us great information about the country and great information on what to expect each day as we hiked. He encouraged a team spirit within our group of eleven hikers which worked well to make it a really fun trip. He also cooked breakfast and dinner every day and the food was outstanding. Johann led our group at a really good pace. Slow and steady on the uphill sections, and care on all downhill parts of the trail. I, personally, really appreciated that. He gave us good support at all stream crossings. He also gathered us each day before heading into the hut for the evening to talk to us about it, so we all arrived as a group. Johann is a very skilled and talented guide. He could not have been better. Thank you for making this such a wonderful experience!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this fantastic review! We’re really happy to hear you had such a great adventure with us in Iceland. It sounds like the whole group really embraced the spirit of the trip, and we loved having you all along. We’re especially glad you enjoyed Jóhann’s guiding, from the steady pace and careful stream crossings to the evening briefings and, of course, the food! We’ll definitely pass along your kind words to him. Creating a fun, supportive group atmosphere is such a big part of these adventures, so it means a lot to hear that it made your experience even more special. Thank you again for joining us and for sharing such a thoughtful review. We hope to see you back on the trails for another Icelandic adventure! 😊

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hidden Trails of Iceland: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does Hidden Trails of Iceland cost?
+
Prices start at $4950 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hidden Trails of Iceland take?
+
Plan for about 288 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is Hidden Trails of Iceland worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 79 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hidden Trails of Iceland?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Hidden Trails of Iceland suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 288-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hidden Trails of Iceland?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 288-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hidden Trails of Iceland start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
