Great volcano experience
Our tour guide and driver, Brandon was easy going and very knowledgeable about all areas of the tour. We had plenty of time at all the stops and ended up going to walk on a lava flow because we were all so punctual and kept to the timings. We were so early in finishing the whole tour we asked if he could take us to the airport early to see if we could get on an earlier flight because it had been a long day. We were fortunate to get the earlier flight and glad to be back at our hotel. The places visited, the knowledge shared and the hints on where to look for the green turtles, visiting different parts of the rim of the volcano, taking care when walking on the lava flow, the best way to go to head through the lava tube and the best spot to take photos from. Thanks for a wonderful tour, great eating places and the many laughs along the way.
Response from the operator: Aloha! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We’re thrilled to hear Brandon made the day both informative and relaxed, and that your group’s great timing allowed for some extra special moments like the lava flow walk. It’s wonderful to know the local insights, safety tips, photo spots, and laughs all came together to make it a memorable tour. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back again someday! 🌺

Absolutely Amazing Adventure
Our tour guide Mel took us to some amazing sites! The black sand beach with the turtles was beautiful. Being in an actual active volcano was thrilling and the main attraction . The day was long but absolutely worth our time. The lava walk was not as small and dark as it sounded. Truly a wonderful experience to end the tour. A few tips for this tour: only water was provided so definitely bring a snack or two. Will stop for a good lunch but that’s it for food stop. Restrooms are actually portable potties along the way at some points of the tour so do not drink too much. Mel warned us ahead of time so we did not have to stop at any of them. When you get on the bus, sit on the right side for the better views along the way. Trust Mel to get you to the airport in sufficient time as you do not need to be there hours ahead. Enjoy the Big Island!
Response from the operator: aloha! mahalo nui loa for taking the time to leave us a review. we will pass this along to your tour guide and the rest of the family. we hope you have an awesome time in Hawaii. see you next time.

Experience Hawaii in All its Natural Beauty
If you are looking to get away from the crowds and tourism of Oahu, this is the experience for you. On this tour, you get the opportunity to experience all that the big Island has to offer, exploring black sand beaches, lush rainforests, and an active volcano. Mel was an amazing tour guide and truly made the whole experience. The stories, history, and jokes he shared with us deepened my connection with not only the island but the other members of our group. This was truly an unforgettable experience that everyone should do at least once in their lives!

Great day tour on the big island
Tour guide Mel was awesome and well versed in geology helping us understand how the Volcanos formed and shaped the land. Walking through the lava tubes was incredible. This was a great tour especially if you are only on the big Island for a day.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Experience from Oahu: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.
How much does Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Experience from Oahu cost?
+
Prices start at $590 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Experience from Oahu take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.
Is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Experience from Oahu worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Experience from Oahu?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Experience from Oahu suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Experience from Oahu?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Experience from Oahu start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?
+
April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
