Wonderful Street Food tour.
Our travel agent booked through Discova an Evening Food Tour for us on our 2nd night in HaNoi. Our guide was Phong, a very friendly guide who had a great knowledge of the local food scene. He said he tried out his tour on his sister and she gave it the OK. So did we. We started at the Hidden Cafe which we made our way to on a grab ride from our hotel. (As an aside get the grab app. So easy to use. Regard it as the Asian Uber). We started with the iconic Vietnamese coffee being an Egg Coffee. It is more a meal in one and very filling but pleasant. We then walked to various restaurants, all operated by the locals out of the front of the their houses. Had a wide range of excellent food, most of which I can't remember the names of but very enjoyable. I was completely full by the end. We finished in a small streetside bar for a couple of local beers which were very welcome in the heat. Phong was excellent in his knowledge of the food scene and thoroughly recommend him through Discova.

A great way to try authentic Vietnamese food!
We loved this tour - Our guide Mai was just fantastic. She took us into tiny local restaurants that we would not have ventured into on our own and as a result we got to try some amazing food! Believe me - you'll be full by the end of this corner, especially with a stop on "beer corner"! We got to see some interesting sites as well, including the bars along the Hanoi railway line (you have to see it to believe it!) Recommended.

Private tour led by Ti Do Van Huan exceptional value and most interesting
Explored the old part of Hanoi and tasted traditional food. Watched preparation. Enjoyed explanation of cooking. Absolutely tasty. This private tour was led by Ti Do Van Huan and was exceptional value and most interesting. Ti even helped us cross any busy streets and walk down narrow laneways. Ti's English is very good, most trustworthy and only deals with reliable vendors. Highly recommended.

The best night.
I went on another food tour alone for two consecutive days. This was the second day, and I was the only one in attendance, so they showed me a list of the shops we visited on the tour the day before and arranged it for us! Not only about the food, but also about the history, the city, the recipes, and even the way we crossed the road, our guide Sunny was very kind to us! They listened to my requests, so I was happy to eat what I wanted!

Great introduction to Vietnamese Street food
We had a fantastic evening walking the streets of Hanoi with our tour guide Huien (hope that's spelled right). He explained everything we were eating and drinking to us along with the history of how this came to be a popular vietnamese dish. It was highly educational and gave us more confidence to choose what to eat for the rest of our trip in Vietnam. Definitely recommend!
