Lan is the best!
Lan was amazing. She took us to all her favourite street food locations and they were all fantastic. She also catered the stops to foods we wanted to try. What a wonderful way to spend a few hours. Lan made it particularly memorable.

You MUST do a tour with Lan!
Lan is the BEST! We ate so much good food (and she was able to adjust our tour to accommodate our vegetarian diets), AND we walked away having made a new friend. We had the most incredible first day in Hanoi with Lan, and got to eat like locals while learning more about life in Hanoi and broadly in Vietnam. We had the best time talking to Lan and shared many laughs together. We cannot wait to return to Vietnam and do another tour with Lan. Thank you, Lan! You are phenomenal, and we miss you already!
Response from the operator: Hi Swati and Vijay, I would like to say thank you again for your great company, support and kindness! I can’t wait to see you again one day in the future ❤️

Great walking food tour in Hanoi with a really great guide.
Lan personalised our food tour with what we hadn’t tried yet or took us to the source so we could try the freshest option. Lan is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Both my husband and I enjoyed the tour, being able to ask questions and listening to Lan explain both the culture and origins of particular foods. We couldn’t recommend Lan’s walking tour enough. We had already been in Hanoi a couple of days however Lan still took us to streets in the old quarter that we hadn’t seen including the home of egg coffee (it was the best one). You can also see that Lan has a good relationship with all of the vendors/shop owners.

Tours with Lan
Hello everyone. I have to say that the food tour that Lan took us on, really prepared us for the rest of our vacation there. She explained everything that we had to eat so we knew what we were eating for the rest of the trip. She really cared for my family and I. She goes out of her way to make us feel comfortable in a foreign land. Lan takes pride in what she does, and is very knowledgeable about her country. She is highly recommended. We took three tours with her, and all three were great.

An absolute must when in Hanoi!!
This was my 3rd tour with Lan! I took the food motorbike tour with her in 2017 and now 2 with her in 2024. Lan is the absolute best tour guide in the world. You cannot visit Hanoi without meeting her. She takes pride in her job and business and gives her absolute best to every guest on her tour. She understands food allergies and food restrictions so well, it's truly impressive. If you're gluten free, nut free, vegan, vegetarian, etc. she will figure out how to help you taste the local delicacies of Hanoi and not feel like you are missing out on anything. Lan is the best!! Please book her. Amazing experience for a solo traveler or even a large group. She knows how to manage all settings.

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hanoi Private Food Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.
How much does Hanoi Private Food Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hanoi Private Food Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.
Is Hanoi Private Food Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hanoi Private Food Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hanoi Private Food Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hanoi Private Food Walking Tour?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hanoi Private Food Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hanoi?
+
On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hanoi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hanoi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
