This was definitely not...
This was definitely not described the way you will encounter. The tour guide only meets you for the bike ride portion of the trip. There is not free water and the bus is in horrible shape. We stopped twice along the way but did not get any explanation about what was happening where we stopped. The lunch was ok, but definitely not like anything we have had here. The bikes were in terrible condition, brakes didn’t work, seats were falling apart, and you could hardly pedal. We stopped three times along the bike tour and those were really cool. Our guide Sonny was good at explaining what we were seeing. On the way back our driver got lost and spent over an hour literally driving in circles. Don’t recommend this company- spend a little more for something better.
Response from the operator: Dear M/Ms. Alexis, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your comments regarding the transportation, communication during the tour, bike conditions, and the return journey. Your feedback is valuable and helps us identify areas where we need to improve. We are particularly concerned to hear about the condition of the bicycles and the issues with the return transfer, as these do not reflect the standard of experience we aim to provide. At the same time, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the stops during the cycling portion of the tour and that Sonny provided informative and engaging explanations throughout the ride. We will be sure to share your kind words with him. We take all guest feedback seriously and are currently reviewing the points you raised with our operations team to ensure future guests have a better experience. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention, and we wish you all the best in your future travels. Thank you and best regards, Lana

A great day Happy New Year!
It's been so much fun! The very good driver, the comfortable car even heated the seats and gave massage! He left us a bottle of water and tissues for each one and gave us his cell phone to play music. Our guide is wonderful, super friendly, sweet and friendly. He told us about his family, the environment, the culture... He explained about the area, we made stops for photos and he took us beautiful! Looks like a postcard. The bike ride has been a lot of fun, it has taken us through beautiful landscapes, we have seen several villages and enjoyed all the surroundings that is amazing. We were 3 people and are delighted with the place, the guide and the driver. Highly recommended. Thank you so much!
Response from the operator: Your positive feedback means the world to our entire team. We work hard to ensure every guest/customer leaves happy, and knowing we achieved that with you is truly rewarding.

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hanoi: Mai Chau Valley - Ethnic Villages, Rice Fields & Trekking: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.
How much does Hanoi: Mai Chau Valley - Ethnic Villages, Rice Fields & Trekking cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hanoi: Mai Chau Valley - Ethnic Villages, Rice Fields & Trekking take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.
Is Hanoi: Mai Chau Valley - Ethnic Villages, Rice Fields & Trekking worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hanoi: Mai Chau Valley - Ethnic Villages, Rice Fields & Trekking?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hanoi: Mai Chau Valley - Ethnic Villages, Rice Fields & Trekking suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hanoi: Mai Chau Valley - Ethnic Villages, Rice Fields & Trekking?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hanoi: Mai Chau Valley - Ethnic Villages, Rice Fields & Trekking start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hanoi?
+
On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hanoi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hanoi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
