5 minutes of uniqueness
This is a unique experience. The train passes inches from shops and customers. It is free… But the shop owners require you to purchase food or drink to stay there. Prices vary from reasonable to eye watering. The train passes slowly. Everybody takes photos. Some lace bottle crown seals on the tracks.

The Best Hanoi Tour
We had such an incredible experience on this Hanoi city tour—honestly one of the best tours we’ve had in our 2 years of traveling and content creation. From the moment we were picked up, everything already felt special. We originally booked a group tour, but since the bus was full (around 20 people), the tour company arranged a separate car for us—with our own guide, Timmy. It instantly turned into a private tour, which made the whole experience even more memorable. Our itinerary was perfectly curated. We explored some of Hanoi’s most iconic spots, including the pagoda, Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, the presidential palace, and his humble stilt house. Each stop felt meaningful, especially with the context Timmy shared along the way. Lunch was also included—and wow, it was the best bun cha we’ve had in Vietnam! Every dish was so flavorful and authentic, making it a highlight on its own. We also visited the Vietnam Ethnology Museum and a lacquer art workshop, which gave us a deeper appreciation of the country’s culture and craftsmanship. What really made this tour stand out, though, was Timmy. He was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and engaging. He answered all our questions with enthusiasm and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. The way he shared stories and insights made everything so interesting—we learned so much about Vietnam and Hanoi without it ever feeling like a lecture. If you’re looking for a fun, informative, and well-organized tour in Hanoi, we highly recommend this experience—and if you’re lucky enough to get Timmy as your guide, you’re in for an amazing day.

Hanoi best tour guide
Timmy - our guide for the all day long tour - is simply great! He is extremely passionate of his country and he is able to transmit it during his explanations. Everything has been organised perfectly in terms of timeline, attractions and explanations. He has been so good that at the end of the tour I felt sad for finishing it

Drinking coffee beside the railway in Hanoi is not what the images portrait.
We were looking forwards to this experience but it turned into a nightmare. A bunch of local women yell, push and herd you like cattle into the cafes they want you to go. You don't get to choose where you sit. I hope more people who have had similar unpleasant experiences will share their stories on the travel platforms and bring to the attention of the Vietnam Tourism Authority to take action.

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hanoi city tour and drinking beside railway- group tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.
How much does Hanoi city tour and drinking beside railway- group tour cost?
+
Prices start at $27 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hanoi city tour and drinking beside railway- group tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.
Is Hanoi city tour and drinking beside railway- group tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hanoi city tour and drinking beside railway- group tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hanoi city tour and drinking beside railway- group tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hanoi city tour and drinking beside railway- group tour?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hanoi city tour and drinking beside railway- group tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hanoi?
+
On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hanoi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hanoi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
