Fantastic first half day away from the resort
Excellent tour and beautiful location. Very family friendly and our guide was excellent with the young kids.

Excellent tour
This is a 2 mile hike on a paved path with some elevation. Our guide, Zender, was great! Very friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about his job. We saw toucans, frogs, snakes, hummingbirds, a squirrel and a blue monarch butterfly- some of these we would not have seen without Zender’s binoculars and sharp eyes. So if you are thinking of going into the forest without a guide, keep this in mind that you will probably miss a lot. The bridges allow for breathtaking views of the rainforest canopy and volcano. We got some great pictures! After the tour, we were welcomed back to the van with refreshments, which was a very nice surprise.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review Jaimi! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Hanging Bridges experience and that Zender helped make your visit so memorable. We're especially happy that you were able to spot such a great variety of wildlife. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to Costa Rica for another adventure in the future! Pura Vida!

Best Day Ever
We left the hotel at 7 with our tour guide Zender - very nice guy and headed to Hanging Bridges Nature Preserve. Were we proceeded to spend 4 hours seeing the most amazing plants, animals, birds and reptiles anywhere in the world. We did a private tour which normally takes folks ~ 2 hours by the brochure; it took us 4, so worth it though. The forest itself was magnificent, but because of the storms last night the creatures were also super active. We saw poisonous dart frogs a snake 3 different types of monkeys a ant eater or relative thereof A squirrel type thing that wasn't a squirrel a tarantula 2 types of Toucans Beautiful flora Trees galore with entire ecosystems growing on them Word and images can't describe. Seriously the best excursion experience of any trip experience I have ever had. I highly recommend but if you do it get a guide - you won't see the stuff otherwise. Zender was amazing, You could tell he was actually enjoying being there; he loves nature and sharing it with others.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Lisa for your wonderful review! We are truly grateful for your kind words and thrilled to hear that your experience with Zender was so memorable. Sharing the beauty of Costa Rica's wildlife and rainforest with our guests is our passion, and it means the world to know it was one of your best travel experiences. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future. Pura Vida!

Exceptional Rainforest Experience
Outstanding Hanging Bridges Tour! Our guide, Yeudy (pronounced Jay-oh-dee), was exceptional and truly made the experience unforgettable. He has an incredible eye for wildlife—we saw a howler monkey, several viper snakes, hummingbirds, and even a turkey, all thanks to his sharp spotting skills. Yeudy also used a telescope and helped us take close-up photos and videos with our own phones, which was such a unique and amazing touch. Knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate, Yeudy went above and beyond. Highly recommend this tour—and absolutely request Yeudy if you can!

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hanging Bridges Nature History Private Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.
How much does Hanging Bridges Nature History Private Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hanging Bridges Nature History Private Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.
Is Hanging Bridges Nature History Private Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hanging Bridges Nature History Private Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hanging Bridges Nature History Private Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hanging Bridges Nature History Private Walking Tour?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hanging Bridges Nature History Private Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?
+
On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, North Fields Cafe: Craft Specialty Coffee and Chocolate Tour, Canyoning Adventure Rappelling Waterfalls in Arenal Volcano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Fortuna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
