An amazing experience in Halong Bay
"It was an amazing experience. We went on a Halong Bay cruise with Mon Chéri and it was so nice. The room facilities are superb, and the scenery and main activities around the bay were wonderful. Due to a tropical storm, we had to change the date of the cruise, but Janet, our travel consultant, was so helpful. She was constantly checking on us and rescheduled everything just so we could still enjoy the experience, including changing our pick-up point. Highly recommended!"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent experience – Special thanks to Janet We had a wonderful experience on our cruise in Ha Long Bay, but I especially want to highlight the exceptional service we received from Janet. From the very beginning, Janet was incredibly helpful, professional and attentive. She was always available to answer our questions, helped us organise every detail of the cruise and transfers, and, most importantly, found solutions whenever we had a problem. Our trip was particularly complicated because of the weather conditions, which forced us to make several changes to our plans. Throughout the whole process, Janet was patient, flexible and extremely efficient. She constantly kept in touch with us, checked different options and did everything possible to make sure we could still enjoy our cruise. Thanks to her help, what could have been a stressful situation became a fantastic experience. We felt very well looked after at all times, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about making our trip as smooth and enjoyable as possible. The cruise itself was a beautiful experience, and we really enjoyed discovering Ha Long Bay, but Janet’s personal attention made the difference. Dont do it.
We booked a 3-day/2-night Garden Bay Peak cruise through BestPrice Travel for September 2026. Our booking was confirmed as a Premium Executive cabin, the highest cabin category, together with a luxury round-trip transfer. We paid the required deposit and reasonably assumed that a confirmed booking meant the cabin had actually been secured. Weeks later, however, we were informed that both Premium Executive cabins were already reserved and our confirmed cabin was unavailable. The only option Garden Bay could offer was a downgrade to a Balcony Executive cabin. This was not a minor change. We had specifically selected the highest cabin category because the accommodation itself was an important part of our holiday. A confirmed reservation should not turn into “sorry, that room isn’t actually available” after payment has already been taken. What made the situation worse was BestPrice’s response. Instead of immediately offering a genuinely equivalent or superior alternative, their initial contribution towards another cruise was just €10. Considering that the problem originated with a booking they had confirmed, I found that response completely inadequate. We eventually found a much better alternative ourselves: Red Dragon Cruise with Indochina Junk. Ironically, booking directly with the cruise operator was cheaper than the price BestPrice said they could obtain through their own contract. Even BestPrice ultimately advised us to book directly. To be fair, our consultant Janet Tran was personally helpful towards the end. She temporarily held the last available balcony cabin on Red Dragon while we investigated our options, released it when requested and arranged the refund. However, even the refund did not leave us financially whole. BestPrice refunded the same amount in Vietnamese dong that had originally been charged, but because the exchange rate had changed in the meantime, the amount converted back into euros was lower than what we had originally paid. In other words, their booking error ultimately cost us money, despite the cancellation not being our fault. That is the part I find particularly unacceptable. We booked in good faith, received a confirmed reservation, paid the requested deposit, and then had to spend our own time finding a replacement, only to suffer a financial loss when the failed booking was finally refunded. For an expensive international holiday, I need to be able to trust that the accommodation shown on a confirmation has actually been secured. I would not book an important cruise through BestPrice again. I would recommend contacting the cruise operator directly and confirming the exact ship and cabin category before paying. Refunding the original VND amount does not undo the inconvenience and when exchange-rate changes leave the customer out of pocket, it is not even a financially neutral resolution.
