We start by pickup from your hotel, then Our Egyptologist tour guide will take you to The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx which are among the most iconic and impressive ancient structures in the world. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the largest of the three pyramids and is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Pyramid of Khafre is slightly smaller but has a more intact pyramidion, while the Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest but has more complex internal structures. The Sphinx, a giant limestone statue of a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human, stands nearby and is believed to have been built during the reign of Khafre. You will marvel at the incredible feats of engineering and construction that allowed the ancient Egyptians to build such monumental structures, and learn about the culture and beliefs of this fascinating civilization. (Entering the pyramids from inside requires an extra ticket).

The Great Pyramid of Khufu
The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the most famous and impressive ancient structures in the world. It is located on the Giza Plateau near Cairo, Egypt and is believed to have been constructed as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu, who ruled during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom period of ancient Egypt. The pyramid was built using an estimated 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing between 2 and 80 tons, and is estimated to have taken around 20 years to complete. It originally stood at a height of 146 meters (481 feet), although erosion and the removal of its outer casing stones have reduced its height to around 138 meters (453 feet) today. The pyramid's internal structure is just as impressive as its exterior. It contains three main chambers: the King's Chamber, the Queen's Chamber, and the Subterranean Chamber. The King's Chamber, located in the heart of the pyramid, contains an empty sarcophagus and is thought to have been the final resting place of Khufu's mummified body.

I was nervous at first because our last-minute booking process was more causal than I’m used to - no credit card, just a casual WhatsApp convo + confirmation. But lo and behold, the next morning, Sara met us at 8am on the dot and escorted us from our Cairo hotel to the pyramids. In the baking sun, trust me the best thing you can have is a guide that efficiently escorts you through not just the ticket booths, but the many many steps you’ll take around the grounds/surroundings of the pyramids. She’s personable, friendly, and as others have said, incredibly knowledgeable (multiple university degrees - including in hieroglyphics). On the fly, we wanted to include the GEM (museum) in our tour and she was able to swing it. Zero regrets. Worth every penny!

Riding the camels & ATV's...
Riding the camels & ATV's in Giza were fun, but the lunch only consisted of a chicken "hot pocket" type meal and a drink, so that was disappointing.
