    Excellent stopover tour

Everything worked out perfectly: Rocky, my guide, was ready to meet me, when I came into the arrivals hall. Car and driver turned up promptly and we drove into the centre of Beijing. Here we walked across Tiananmen Square and through the Forbidden City. I was expertly guided to the best photo opportunities and learned a lot about China then and now. Highly recommended!

Response from the operator: Dear valued guest, thank you for your kind post of this Beijing tour! It is very exciting to have your approval of our travel service, which is also a great impetus for our improvement. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. We look forward to exploring the world with you soon. Best regards.

Forbidden City & Tiananmen square with Barry

Had a wonderful afternoon walking around these amazing places with Barry. He was so knowledgeable & interesting. He was also very kind as i am an older lady & ensured that I was walking at a speed that was comfortable. I was too tired to walk back to the Metro so he called a taxi for me. Later in the evening long after the tour, I sent him a message asking to translate some food options for me. He even did that in his own time, so kind.

Response from the operator: Dear Sandra R, It is really a pleasure for us to read the review regarding your Beijing tour again on Tripadvisor. We are glad to know that you were also pleased with the service of our guide Barry in your tour to the Forbidden City. Barry will be excited to read your positive comments on him. Thanks again for your feedback and wish that we can serve you again in the near future. Best regards!

    Bejing honeymoon!

John was our tour guide. From the start he greeted us with a warm welcome and gave us a really good tour. Not only did he give us all the cultural tour. He also gave us loads of tips like where best to get souvenirs, where to eat Peking duck with the locals and even where the best toilets were! 🤣 Jon made our first stop in China really special and memorable! We would highly recommend him and the company.

Response from the operator: Dear suzanneea, Thank you very much for giving us your authentic feedback on our service and sharing your beautiful photos. We are more than excited to see that you had a memorable trip in Beijing and our guide John even made your Beijing stay a special experience. We can also learn that he offered many information on Beijing sites to you and gave you useful tips while shopping and having meals. He is truly an excellent guide in our company. Thanks for your support on our company and we wish you can use our service again should you come to China again. Best regards!

A perfect tour if you are short of time

We got lot lucky with crowd as the school vacation just had got over and the crowd was really less especially on the wall. John was full of energy and fun, he was there on time at the hotel and was very knowledgeable. Although this was a packed tour we didn’t feel so stressed out, we did manage to walk a long way on the wall. Thanks to John suggestion roll for taking the cable car and slide on the way back it was totally worth it. Definitely recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Dear krishatnet, Thank you for sharing your tour review with us! It is a great joy to see that you had an excellent tour in Beijing with us. From your words we learn that our guide John's excellent knowledge and great service have made your Beijing experience memorable and smooth. We are also glad to know your tour to the Great Wall was less crowded than before. Thanks for your recommendation on our service and we hope that you can use our service again in the near future. Have a nice day!

Half-Day Forbidden City Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Half-Day Forbidden City Private Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $49 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Half-Day Forbidden City Private Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Half-Day Forbidden City Private Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Forbidden City Private Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Half-Day Forbidden City Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Half-Day Forbidden City Private Tour?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Half-Day Forbidden City Private Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
