Discovering Ubud’s hidden treasures, one gem at a time
Greenbike’s bike 1-2day tour in Ubud is a 5+ hr tour which included breakfast, lunch and a sampling of local treats. Unexpectedly, it also included transfers from our hotel which was extraordinary value (and very convenient). The tour explores Balinese culture and community through a scenic bike ride on quiet country roads and off the beaten track. We visited a traditional Balinese home, sampled Indonesia’s famed luwak coffee, stopped by Bali’s second largest temple and finished the tour riding through the rice fields. The bike ride was a meandering 22 km round trip, best of all mostly downhill. Our guides ensured our road safety and remained vigilant throughout. Riding the backroads roads and narrow trails, known only to locals was a highlight. As an occasional recreational rider, I especially enjoyed the trickier trail parts that were unpaved, rocky, puddle-ridden. Tips: As we travelled to/from Ubud from Nusa, we experienced Bali’s snarled traffic. It made for a long day but it was worthwhile. While the torrential rain in Nusa didn’t instill confidence initially, it subsided when we arrived. Thankfully the rain cooled the day for our ride. And trust the experts at Greenbike to gauge the contingency plan. A special thanks to our guides Amin, Ketut for providing their insights, and to Rina at Seek Sophie who responded to my questions beforehand.

So worth it!!
It was so well organised. Gade picked us up on time from our hotel, we had a lovely breakfast at a restaurant, did the cycling which is 20km just about always downhill making it very accessible. We went through rice paddies, past villages, made a stop for a local desert, saw a local house and had lunch after. There were only 3 of us. We felt safe and taken care of on the roads.

A great way to see the countryside
This tour went past our expectations. Darma the guide was excellent and told us so much about the history and traditions of the Balinese. The food was excellent and the scenery amazing. The biking was easy and mainly downhill. We stopped at interesting places along the way and there were plenty of toilets. The safety was good with a guide at the front and back of the group. When we crossed a road the guides would check the traffic for us. When we were biking on the roads they were village roads so not very busy and less traffic We went through villages and the children all yelled out hello and waved. It was fun. The bikes were in good condition and worked well. We had no equipment issues. The helmets all fitted and were good. We were provided with a water bottle that was mineral water and had a sealed cap. Would recommend.

Is Half Day Cycling Tour ( Manual Bike ) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 226 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Ubud, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

+

Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ubud can sell out a month out. What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ubud and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

+
On Outty we rank every Ubud experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mount Batur Jeep Adventure, Best of Ubud Full-Day Tour with Jungle Swing, Full-Day Tour to Water Temples and UNESCO Rice Terraces in Bali. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ubud?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ubud?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
