Outstanding wine tour with a knowledgeable guide

We did the half day tour of Côtes du Rhône. It was the best wine tour we have been on, as Olivier shared his expertise in a nice way, but did not overwhelm us with information. It was a great balance. And we appreciated his careful driving. We will definitely plan another trip with Olivier in the future.

Lovely experience

We (a group of 6 friends) went for Oliver's wine tour to Northern Rhone in March 2024. We had a lovely time thanks to Oliver! From start to end, Oliver was extremely responsive, helpful and gave us lots of insights into the various wines. As we were tourists, he even helped linked us up with his taxi contacts which was extremely helpful for us from a logistics point of view. The wines he chose were lovely and we definitely wish we had more time to go on more wine tours with him! Would definitely recommend this to friends and family who are in the region next time.

Excellent terroir & tasting experience

Superb! We visited two family vineyards south of Lyon: Corps de Loup, Famille Daubrée in 2 Route de Lyon, 69420 Tupin-et-Semons and Pierre Gaillard. Our tour guide, Olivier Delalande, provided a most useful bi-lingual (French and English) description of the two vineyards visited. Good variety of tasting samples, excellent terroir explanation and comfortable mini-bus in which to travel. Money well spent.

Wonderful experience

I had very limited time in Lyon as I traveled there for work, but I really wanted to do a wine tour while there. My morning half day tour with Olivier (Kanpai Tours) was excellent and exactly what I was looking for. Olivier is the kindest person, and very knowledgeable about the area and the wine making process. We were there during harvest so everyone was very busy but so gracious, that was very cool to see. It was a very relaxing, interesting, and enjoyable morning. Wines we tasted were very good. Really excellent experience.

Response from the operator: Merci beaucoup ! I am so happy that you enjoyed the morning and the beautiful wines from the Northern Rhone Valley. Best, Olivier

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lyon.

How much does Half-Day Cotes du Rhone Private Wine Tour from Lyon cost?

+

How long does Half-Day Cotes du Rhone Private Wine Tour from Lyon take?

+

Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lyon is not rushed.

Is Half-Day Cotes du Rhone Private Wine Tour from Lyon worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lyon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Cotes du Rhone Private Wine Tour from Lyon?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Half-Day Cotes du Rhone Private Wine Tour from Lyon suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Half-Day Cotes du Rhone Private Wine Tour from Lyon?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lyon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lyon and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Half-Day Cotes du Rhone Private Wine Tour from Lyon start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lyon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lyon?

+

On Outty we rank every Lyon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lyon Highlights & Secrets Walking Guided Tour (small group) including Funicular, Vieux Lyon Cultural & Historical Walking Guided Tour (English), Highlights and Hidden Gems of Lyon Guided Walking Tour (English). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lyon?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lyon?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
