Fun and Informative Thai Cooking Class

My friend and I met our teacher Game at a local market with 5 other European travellers (organised via Whatsapp). Game talked us through the ingredients we’d be using in detail and we got to briefly wander the market while we waited for the Grab (taxi) to take us to the kitchen. The kitchen was covered but outside and scenic, with a large dining table. We received a delicious welcome drink. There was a group of 9 also learning with a different teacher on the other side of the kitchen. The class included 5 courses. Each course had several options to choose from (with flexible options for various dietary requirements). I chose spring rolls, chicken pad thai accompanied by shrimp tom yum soup, panang curry, and everyone made mango sticky rice and thai milk tea to finish. Every course was delicious!!! We even received a recipe book at the end containing recipes for every dish they offer. Special recognition for our teacher Game, she was friendly, charismatic, knowledgeable and hilarious! She also sent us lots of photos she took of everyone cooking. We had such a wonderful time at the class and i would highly recommend Passionfood to anyone wanting to try a fun thai cooking experience.

Authentic Thai cooking class!

We did the half day cooking class (evening 1600-2030), hosted by (Nee?- not sure about spelling!) and had an amazing time! We chose from a varied menu a total of 5 different dishes to prepare and cook and headed over to the market to learn about the ingredients. We then went to the cooking school which was quaint and well prepared. There were other staff at the school who were excellent and helped to keep the class running smoothly! We were kept well hydrated throughout, and accessible toilets also. The class was really well run, super interactive and very authentic. It was nice to meet other people from around the world who had booked onto the class, all brought together by food. Nee is so passionate about her craft and it really translated into the class which really made it enjoyable. We were so full after all the eating! But in a good way :) Our only improvement would be that we felt time could have been maximised a little better, at times we were hanging around between dishes, but that was only a minor detail! We would 100% recommend this class to anyone who wishes for an authentic experience of Thai cooking!

Very informative, authentic thai cooking class

This Thai cooking class was so fun and informative. We were also a small group of 4 which made the experience much better and more intimate. We learnt all about the ingredients at a local market before heading to make 5 different Thai dishes that we could choose from a selection. They were very good at telling us about all the different flavours in each dish and getting us to try the sauces before using them. Make sure you come with an empty stomach because you will have a 5 course meal ahead of you!! They took photos for us and sent them to us after and also gave us a cooking book at the end of the class so we wouldn’t forget what we learnt! Highly recommend this cooking class, such good value for money. (Included pick up + drop off too).

Love this cooking class!!!

We started in a local market to learn about Thai ingredients. Staffs were very kind and make us feel comfortable. Cooking class was great.! I attended few Thai cooking classes before. This was one of the top class. They make the cooking procedure easy for us to understand and follow their recipes. There were 11 people in the cooking class. I believe we all had a good time there. Also, at the end, they provided a receipt book, which was convenient for me to look back the receipt.

Passionate instructors, informative school!

We had a wonderful experience at this cooking class! Our instructor was Game, she was very enthusiastic and informative about the ingredients that we used in our dishes. It's obvious that the people running this class are passionate about what they do. They even gave us a cook book at the end of class and told us to contact them over Whatsapp if we had any questions about the recipe in the future. We had the evening class which was only 4.5 hours. I think it was a good amount of time to dedicate to the activity, and I would recommend this class!

Half-Day Cooking Class: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chiang Mai.

How much does Half-Day Cooking Class cost?

+

Prices start at $900 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chiang Mai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Half-Day Cooking Class take?

+

Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chiang Mai is not rushed.

Is Half-Day Cooking Class worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 61 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chiang Mai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Half-Day Cooking Class?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Half-Day Cooking Class suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Half-Day Cooking Class?

+

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Half-Day Cooking Class start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chiang Mai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?

+

On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
