Charm and Luxury on a Hull
We booked a one night cruise on Ha Long Bay to enjoy the unique and spectacular limestone karsts up close and personal but weren’t prepared for how much we enjoyed the cruise itself. The 180 foot cruise boat has only 24 cabins. The boat is of thoroughly modern construction and the decor throughout is a lavish combination of classical Vietnamese and French colonial styles down to a period telephone on the bedstead. Our cabin, was very large with a king bed, large windows and a veranda with chairs offering an unimpeded view of the scenery, Our cabin had a separate seating area and a generous bath with a soaking tub. The whole crew was friendly and gracious and could not do enough to make our short stay enjoyable. The food was completely amazing in taste, variety, presentation and service. - 5 stars! Also thrown in was a decent and affordable international wine list. The trip would be worth it for the dinner alone. The crew packed a number of optional activities into the 24 hours - a bicycle (or golf cart) excursion to a part of Cat Ba island, swimming, kayaking, Tai Chi, a cooking lesson and a little squid fishing after dark. My bride had a hot stone massage in the on board spa that she pronounced first rate
