Sas-Bahu Temple
The Sas Bahu Temple in Gwalior, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, was commissioned by King Mahipala in 1092 AD. Lord Vishnu, also known as Sahastrabahu (“one with many hands”), lent the temple its original name, which over time evolved into “Sas Bahu” due to mispronunciation or interpretation. Built to seek the prosperity and success of his kingdom, King Mahipala’s temple is an exceptional example of medieval architecture. The complex comprises two temples—one larger and one smaller—symbolically referred to as the “mother-in-law” and “daughter-in-law” temples. Both feature intricately carved walls, graceful figures, and finely crafted pillars, reflecting remarkable artistic and architectural skill.

Historical place
One of the main attractions of gwalior city. Present near the Gwalior Fort, so one can visit in a single go. An ancient temple , that is not active anymore but still gives divine vibes. The temple will remind you of the rich architectural heritage that India has. The place is calm & not many people visit it that often so it is free of fuss.
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re delighted that you enjoyed exploring the historic attractions of Gwalior and appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and architectural beauty of the ancient temple near Gwalior Fort. It truly is a remarkable place that reflects India’s rich cultural and architectural heritage. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again on another memorable journey. Warm regards, Team MTA DMC MTA Destination Management Company

Gwalior, you must visit it!
If you are in Uttar Pradesh or Rajasthan or you are planning a travel there, Gwalior, even it is in a state nearby, should be in your trip! Its fort is really amazing and a bit different from the Mughal buildings. The two Hindu temples and the Maharaja's palace worths the effort to get there too. The tour guide was really fantastic, there was nothing that he doesn't know, from architectural details to indian culture and dynasties. A special thanks to the driver for the great job, because Gwalior streets and the road to get there from Agra are very crowded. Good backoffice organization too. I gave 4 stars because getting to Gwalior from Agra by car could be exhausting. I suggest to get to Gwalior by a high-level train ticket if possible, otherwise splitting the visit to the city on two days with the night in Gwalior

Cool place but the service was just ok
Cool place to see. The guide was good, but they skipped 2/5 stops on the list. The driver didn’t know where he was going in Gwalior and had to stop for directions a dozen times. Overall just ok.
Response from the operator: Hi Amy, I'm sorry to hear that your experience at the place you visited was just okay and that some parts of the tour were not up to your expectations. It's unfortunate that the guide skipped 2 out of 5 stops on the list. A tour that doesn't include all the promised stops can be disappointing, especially if those were places you were really looking forward to seeing. It's also not ideal that the driver didn't seem to know where he was going in Gwalior and had to stop for directions multiple times. This can be frustrating, and it can also cut into the time you have to explore the area. I hope that despite these shortcomings, you were still able to enjoy the parts of the tour that did go well and that you were able to make the most of your visit to the place you saw. Thank you for sharing your feedback on your experience.

+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
