**Heritage Expeditions: Planning Process Needs Improvement**
As the Founder and CEO of Surreal Journeys Travel, I recently partnered with Heritage Expeditions to coordinate a group experience to Zimbabwe and Botswana for 29 travelers in September 2026. I want to begin by saying that the actual travel experience was wonderful. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves, the accommodations were beautiful, transportation and activities were well coordinated, and the overall experience exceeded many of our travelers' expectations. Our clients were EXTREMELY happy, and ultimately, that is always my goal. Unfortunately, my experience working with Heritage Expeditions behind the scenes was not nearly as positive. Throughout the planning process, I encountered repeated communication delays, booking discrepancies, incorrect room assignments, and arrival date errors. Several issues required multiple follow-ups and corrections, creating unnecessary stress and additional administrative work on my end. They even tried to add an extra $1000 per person fee AFTER my clients paid in full. As a travel professional responsible for a large group, I expect accuracy, timely communication, and attention to detail from my destination partners. I should not have to repeatedly verify information that has already been provided or follow up multiple times to ensure that basic arrangements are correct. One of my biggest disappointments occurred during our stay in Botswana. Our group had been sold an all-inclusive experience, but upon arrival, we discovered that the resort was operating on a full-board basis, meaning beverages were not included as expected. This created an uncomfortable situation because my clients had paid for an experience that was not fully delivered. Although Heritage eventually arranged for two complimentary beverages per guest on our final evening, this did not adequately address the discrepancy. I also want to acknowledge that once we arrived in Africa, the local team did an excellent job. The guides, drivers, activities, and overall ground coordination helped create a memorable experience for our travelers. Their efforts deserve recognition. What makes this situation particularly disappointing is that Heritage Expeditions clearly has the ability to deliver an outstanding travel experience. However, the quality of the experience on the ground should be matched by the same level of professionalism, organization, and communication during the planning process. When I partner with a destination management company, I am trusting them not only with my business but also with my company's reputation and the experiences of clients who have placed their trust in me. **Would I recommend Heritage Expeditions?** Although the destination experience itself was excellent, everything leading up to travel was extremely disappointing.

Good Service from Batoka Safaris
We recently returned from one of our bucket list destinations. We booked through Exoticca Travel, and they used Batoka Safaris as our guides in Zimbabwe. From pickup at Victoria Falls Airport to departure from Victoria Falls Airport, the service provided by the staff of Batoka Safaris was excellent. They handled all of our transfers efficiently. We booked a Sunset Cruise of the Zambezi River with them, and that was a lot of fun. Did a Zambezi National Park safari with them that was super fun. The highlight was the guided tour of the Majestic Victoria Falls!! WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! A dream come true seeing this amazing Waterfall!! The guide from Batoka Safaris was awesome! If we ever have the opportunity to visit Zimbabwe again, then we will absolutely contact Batoka Safari once more!!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for the feedback, you inspire us to do even much better! Please do contact us, there are plenty of places to visit in Zimbabwe, we will give you all the options.

How far in advance should I book Guided Tour of the Falls?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Victoria Falls can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Victoria Falls and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Victoria Falls?
+

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Victoria Falls?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Victoria Falls?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
