The best drinks in all of Vietnam!
While this distillery is off the beaten path (please arrange a ride prior to your arrival and departure, there isn’t much cell service there), it’s worth trekking off of the path for. The guide explained every part of the process to our English speaking group in as much detail as possible. She then poured the best spirits in all of Vietnam for us to sample. We got to even try a little bit of rum from fresh off the still (this was my favourite expression). Everyone in my group loved this experience and I would certainly recommend it again.

Tasty, Informative, but only for Rum lovers.
I had a fun time. The distillery is quite a way outside of Hoi An, so when combining the cost of the travel getting there and the tour itself, it was a bit overpriced. However, we did get to try some lovely Rums and Rhums, and I learnt a fair bit about the distilling process. The staff are very friendly.

Little hidden gem
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary tourist spots, this is the place to go. 20 minutes by Grab driver from Hoi An old town you find the litten distillery - don't go by motorbike to be able to test the rum yourself!!! Super nice team. Very personal tour through the whole destillation process. Free welcome drink and a very reasonable tasting! We bought two bottles in the end. ;-)

Hidden gem
Antoine’s passion for his craft is evident as he walks you through the process of making rum from pure Vietnamese sugar cane. Not only do the products use locally-sourced produce, it also supports the surrounding farming community. It’s only a 30-minute drive from Hoi A town, not too far away from Vin Wonders. While not a big fan of liquor, I enjoyed the visit and learned a lot, and possibly discovered a newfound appreciation for rum! A lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

Looking for a few hours to kill
Great Way To Kill a Hour or Two, Run By Very Nice Couple Of French Guys Who Are Friendly And Very Talented Having Started Off The Distillery Themselves, And You Do a Rhum Tasting At The End. So Don't Ride Your Bike There haha, Highly Recommended

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Guided tour of Sampan distillery // Agricultural Rum Medalist: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hoi An.
How much does Guided tour of Sampan distillery // Agricultural Rum Medalist cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hoi An usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Guided tour of Sampan distillery // Agricultural Rum Medalist take?
+
Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hoi An is not rushed.
Is Guided tour of Sampan distillery // Agricultural Rum Medalist worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 39 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hoi An, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Guided tour of Sampan distillery // Agricultural Rum Medalist?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Guided tour of Sampan distillery // Agricultural Rum Medalist suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 0.8-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Guided tour of Sampan distillery // Agricultural Rum Medalist?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoi An can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoi An and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Guided tour of Sampan distillery // Agricultural Rum Medalist start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hoi An within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hoi An?
+
On Outty we rank every Hoi An experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HOI AN Hidden Gems in Rural Villages & River Islands PRIVATE TOUR, Coconut Jungle Eco & Hoi An City Tour With Boat Ride, Cooking Class Hoi An:Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hoi An?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hoi An?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
