What you'll see and do

  1. La Cantina Frrud - Museo del Vino

Wine Museum The Frrud Winery Project was born about 3 years ago from the dream of two young people from the city of Altamura. The terms that can describe them are certainly passion and determination; passion in believing firmly in the potential of our land and determination not only to preserve, but also to recover a place of great historical importance, to return it to the city and above all to leave it for future generations. The two young men, Paolo Colonna and Donato Scalera are not born as wine experts, but the strong passion that unites them for their land and especially for the recovery of the ancient places of the local area, pushes them to embark on this project. A commitment that required more than a year of hard work, in which the common interest was to bring to light as faithfully as possible, all the objects that had remained preserved in the 70 years of inactivity of the structure. This has allowed us to give life to objects with more than 100 years of history and make the winery a place where the passage of men and generations who have literally lived those places, those objects, is evident and tangible. The story, the passion and the dream materialize when the earth with its smells and essences falls within the structure, bottled in the wines present in the Cellar. The return of the wine returns the lifeblood of the whole structure, in the story of a history made of respect for the past traditions, of recovery of the ancient winemaking techniques, but above all of enhancement of the beauty and power that a 100% natural product can give away. Today the Frrud Winery is a museum open to the public where it is impossible not to be moved by the story told by the two young people and which is visible to anyone in the objects and products within the structure. Not just a visit, but an emotion that starts from the living land and that, through the passion of the two boys, reaches the heart of everyone.

Must-visit site

Amazing experience. Paolo is knowledgeable and passionate about the work he and his business partner have done to restore a 16th century wine making cellar. You shouldn’t skip this experience! It’s a unique and unforgettable tour.

Historic, informative, delicious

Amazing experience with Paolo Amazing project they have done to discover and restore this historic winery in heart of Altamura Their passion extends to present day with creating new ecological local wines , we sampled three of them in the wine cave , really enjoyed the tasting . Wine accompanied by focaccia , local bread, local burrata and other cheeses … a wonderful couple of hours and enjoyed chatting with Paolo and learning about the story and historic details , thanks Paolo and good luck with the future plans 🙌🏼🍷🧀

Don't miss this gem of a tour!

This was, from start to finish, excellent. If you're interested in wine, food or history (I enjoy all three) you'll love this tour. Paolo is knowledgeable and passionate - an excellent guide and host. The museum is a labour of love, this is obvious, and the wine is very tasty. The food paired with the wine is all local and very high quality... I honestly can't think of a better thing to do.

A hidden GEM a the hart of Altamura!!🍷🍷

It was a great experience, Paolo treated you like family. The tour is really relax with time for photos, explore everything and ask all the questions that you want. A treasure that is a must go if you are on the area. The wine tasting is at the cave where the wine was stored years ago with some aperitif and their own olive oil and because it is a small batch, it really a VIP experience. Really good flavors on the primitivo grape with enough body to store for a few years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!🍷

Guided tour and tasting at La Cantina Frrud - Wine Museum: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bari.

How much does Guided tour and tasting at La Cantina Frrud - Wine Museum cost?

+

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bari usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Guided tour and tasting at La Cantina Frrud - Wine Museum take?

+

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bari is not rushed.

Is Guided tour and tasting at La Cantina Frrud - Wine Museum worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 88 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 255 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bari, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Guided tour and tasting at La Cantina Frrud - Wine Museum?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Guided tour and tasting at La Cantina Frrud - Wine Museum suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Guided tour and tasting at La Cantina Frrud - Wine Museum?

+

Around 89 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bari can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bari and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Guided tour and tasting at La Cantina Frrud - Wine Museum start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bari within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bari?

+

On Outty we rank every Bari experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bari’s Ultimate Street Food Tour - Small Group by Do Eat Better, Boat Tour of the Polignano a Mare Coast with Aperitif, Polignano a Mare: Boat Tour of the Caves - Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bari?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bari?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
