    About this experience

Ephesus, was the second largest city in the Roman Empire over 250.000 people in the 1st BC. Ranking only behind Rome it was the second largest city in the world. Ephesus was also a harbour city. And, this giant city was built only with marbel. Sirince Village, this pretty old Greek orthodox village, 12 km away from Ephesus, was once Cirkince (Ugly). Indeed its habitants gave this name of purpose as they did not want to be bothered by foreigners nor to share the beauty of their village. Temple of Artemis or Artemision, also known as the Temple of Diana, was a Greek Temple dedicated to the goddess Artemis. The House of Virgin Mary, is a place where according to the beliefs of many people Mary, the mother of Jesus, spent her last years of her life. The Isabey Mosque, constructed in 1374 – 1375, is one of the oldest and most impressive works of architectural art remaining from the Anatolian Beyliks. Interesting but too much time being led around to places trying to sell us things

Our guide was pleasant enough and took us to some interesting places, but unfortunately there was a lot of time spent with people at the pottery studio and especially the Ephesia rug- making business who were trying to get us to buy things. For me, way too much time in these establishment shopping/dealing with sales people and less time touring the towns. I also read on ChatGPT that the rug place has very good quality but often tour guides get commissions so that left a bad taste in my mouth as well. One of the people in our group bought some jewelry not at the place our guide took us to, and she had a visible reaction indicating that she was disappointed we did not buy it at the place she later took us to. Surely a lost commission there!

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us improve our services. We would also like to clarify that our agency does not receive any commission from the shops visited during the tour. These stops are part of the tour itinerary and are clearly indicated in the program before the tour begins. We are sorry to hear that these visits affected your overall experience. Your feedback regarding the amount of time spent at the shopping stops has been noted and will be taken into consideration as we continue to improve our tours. Thank you once again for your valuable review, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Best Regards, Bergin Tours
