Queenstown e-biking at it's finest

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful day of e-bike riding around the Queenstown area. It was our first time riding e-bikes. Shay, 5 stars, did a fantastic job of teaching us the basics and then the finer points. In addition, Shay also does an incredible job with taking pictures and videos throughout the day. My wife loved that! Can't wait to see the finished products. We could not asked for a better day or experience while we were in Queenstown. We highly recommend Shay and his team to e-bikers of all levels!

Requested documentation, no meaningful solution — disappointing customer service

This is a long overdue review about customer service and handling of an emergency cancellation, not the tour experience. I had an emergency to fly out about 12 hours before my tour and couldn’t attend, so I contacted the company immediately. They replied asking me to email a screenshot of my flight ticket and suggested flights weren’t operating based on their own experience at the airport. I sent the screenshot as requested, but then I was told the cancellation policy is 24 hours and no exception was offered. I understand policies exist, but I don’t understand the purpose of requesting personal documentation if the outcome is fixed regardless. The communication felt more like my integrity was being questioned rather than handled with empathy and clear options (credit/reschedule, etc.). The communication and customer service came across as distrustful rather than helpful even with official documentation. Again, this review is not intended for the tour content itself, but rather about how this agency handled the situation. Wishing you continued success in the future.

Response from the operator: Dear Krystal, We are sorry you feel this way and was holding it for over 2 years. Your tour was scheduled in October, 2023. Despite the policy we were willing to help you and make a refund, therefore asked for a ticket screenshot, communicating at night. Unfortunately, in the morning on the tour date there was no available for us option on Viator to cancel the tour. Since then the platform has updated and customers can request cancellations through the platform, and we will receive an email from the platform, where we can accept the cancellation. With respect, Ride to the Sky team

WOW. Awesome MTB Experience.

Awesome experience to do in Queenstown. Shay is a fantastic guide who communicates well with his clients, has great teaching skills for biking, has access to private land to bike on, has great eBike equipment, is an excellent photographer to capture your adventure, what else is needed to say. The eBikes make easy work of the big climb to the sky. The views are amazing. Thank you Shay for an wonderful day. Made our trip to Queenstown worthwhile.

Stunning bike ride

Had a fabulous time! There were only 4 of us on the tour, which made for an intimate experience. Incredible views the whole way. Hope to return for a different tour!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for the review 🙏

Queenstown by E-Mountain Bike

We had an incredible e-mountain bike tour with Shay! I can’t recommend highly enough the incredible experience that you will have with Shay and his Ride to the Sky team in Queenstown, NZ. The topography in Queenstown is amazing, and seeing it while peddling through the mountains and around the lake is breathtaking! The equipment was top notch, and Shay was an awesome guide! If you aren’t a competent bike rider, the experience may be intimidating. By the end of the trip, we had a new friend in Shay!

Response from the operator: Thank you Fred, mission accomplished 🤟🤟

Guided eBike Tour 'Ride to the Sky': questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Queenstown.

How much does Guided eBike Tour 'Ride to the Sky' cost?

+

Prices start at $245 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Queenstown usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Guided eBike Tour 'Ride to the Sky' take?

+

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Queenstown is not rushed.

Is Guided eBike Tour 'Ride to the Sky' worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 183 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Queenstown, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Guided eBike Tour 'Ride to the Sky'?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Guided eBike Tour 'Ride to the Sky' suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Guided eBike Tour 'Ride to the Sky'?

+

Around 64 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Queenstown can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Queenstown and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Guided eBike Tour 'Ride to the Sky' start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Queenstown within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Queenstown?

+

On Outty we rank every Queenstown experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Milford Sound Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Milford Sound Premium Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Award Winning Premium Wine Tour Queenstown Tasting at 4 Wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Queenstown?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Queenstown?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
