Amish tour
Brittni is very knowledgeable about the Amish. She made the ride up to Lancaster enjoyable. Enjoyed seeing the Amish village (nice Amish man in the school room), goat farm, the leather shop (great place to shop and appreciated Levi fitting our bought belts) and the Rhiels place (very nice Amish ladies). Got to see a different aspect of the Amish society which was more modern from my previous mindset.

Not What I Was Hoping For
This "poor" review reflects my overall experience of the trip but doesn't reflect upon my admiration for Jason (Guide) who is a really kind, likeable guy - passionate and knowledgeable about the history of the Amish. He's a great host who is keen to deliver a good customer experience. I rate him 5/5 and wish him well in his endeavours. Maybe my expectations were too high ahead of the trip but I thought we would be visiting an Amish Village (not, as it turned out, a model village) and have the opportunity to observe the Amish way of life / work / business etc. The reality was the model village was hugely disappointing - a perfunctory insight to how they used to live and no Amish people in sight, other than those who worked in the shop where you can buy their goods - a regular theme on this trip. We visited a fantastic furniture store - again, the only opportunity of meeting an Amish person being someone who was willing to sell their goods (which were excellent by the way). We visited a cafe and mini--market store where you could buy Amish products; We further visited a goats cheese farm, a toy shop and a store selling Amish hand crafted, quilts, leather goods, bags etc - you get the picture. Outside of a polite "hello" we didn't get to speak with any of the Amish people or observe / gain more insight to their day-to-day lifestyle, unless they all work in shops selling their wares. The best part of the trip was Jason himself who provided great historical insight and was happy to field any questions. He explained at outset of our journey, that part of the initial deal / agreement that brought the Amish to Lancaster County in the first place, was their assertion that they did not wish to engage with the English lifestyle or people, save for when necessary for business purposes. Sadly, that was the experience we went through on the trip. Had I have done my homework properly, I would have been unlikely to have made this trip - perhaps a shorter trip where expectations were less than those I had envisaged when I made the booking. The cynic could argue that the Amish are happy for you to visit to buy their goods, but don't offer any engagement or insight to their way of life - which is the whole reason I wanted to go on the trip in the first place. On the upside, Jason is brilliant, Lancaster County is very scenic, the chilli soup at the cafe was delicious, the goods in all shops were fine quality and reasonably priced - but I didn't book my trip to go shopping.

Amish Primer
This a great starter trip. The guide, Jason, is very knowledgeable in Amish history and practices. He knew all the store keepers by name and had good insight into their products.

Brittni is an awesome guide!
The tour was exceptional from start to finish. It was so educational and fun learning about the Amish way of life, their culture, interacting with their animals, trying some delicious, and most of all seeing some jaw-droppingly beautiful quilts since that's where my passion lies. Brittni is one of the best guides I've experienced, and I appreciate her extensive knowledge and close relationships with the Amish folk. Her positivity is infectious, and she has a real passion for sharing her knowledge with her tour guests.

Guided Day Trip to Amish Country from Philadelphia: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Philadelphia.
How much does Guided Day Trip to Amish Country from Philadelphia cost?
+
Prices start at $249 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Philadelphia usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Guided Day Trip to Amish Country from Philadelphia take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Philadelphia is not rushed.
Is Guided Day Trip to Amish Country from Philadelphia worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 466 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Philadelphia, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Guided Day Trip to Amish Country from Philadelphia?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Guided Day Trip to Amish Country from Philadelphia suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Guided Day Trip to Amish Country from Philadelphia?
+
Around 163 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Philadelphia can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Philadelphia and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Guided Day Trip to Amish Country from Philadelphia start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Philadelphia within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Philadelphia?
+
Philadelphia's core is walkable: Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell need timed entry, the mural arts programme runs the largest public art collection in the country, and the Reading Terminal and Italian Market food walks fill the middle of the day. Outty Ranking favours operators who secure Independence Hall tickets rather than sending you to the visitor centre queue. On Outty we rank every Philadelphia experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Revolution and the Founders: History Tour of Philadelphia, Dark Philly Adult Night Tour, Philadelphia Old City Historic Walking Tour with 10+ Top Sites. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Philadelphia?
+
April to June and September to October, mild weather and open patios. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Philadelphia?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
