About this experience
Avoid the stress of being stuck in crowds by choosing a small group guided tour. Forget the concrete jungles and iron bars of traditional zoos; The Belize Zoo is considered as a tropical animal rescue, research, and rehabilitation center. Every animal at the Belize Zoo was either orphaned, born at the zoo, rescued or received as a gift from other institutions. You are not going to find imported species here; just the native "stars" of Belize and Central America. The Belize Zoo
Guest can look forward to being submerged into the natural jungle canopy of the Belize Zoo; making fury and feathery friends along the way. Be prepared to witness each of Belize's local land mammals in their natural habitats. Jaguars, tapirs, monkeys, crocodiles and scarlet macaws are just some of the few species of animals you'll get to experience. This may be your only chance to see these unique animals; native to Belize.

Not happy!!
The tour guide cancelled my booking the day beforehand saying it was due to not enough people having booked. They offered to make the tour private for a cost of $250 USD which I declined as I was able to make my own arrangements for less money. It turns out the zoo was closed that day as it was Good Friday!! So where on Earth were they planning on taking me if I had accepted the private tour option?? I wish they had told me the truth that the zoo was going to be closed as I could have done something else with my day... instead it was completely wasted.
Response from the operator: Firstly, how is it our fault that you went with a different company and they did not inform you that the place was closed. We offered to take you for an extra charge which you declined. We are not obligated to tell you any further information at that point. We gave you your full refund 2 days before and yet you still feel entitled enough to write your spiteful review. Please find the company who actually took you for $100 and get your money back; they are the ones who you need to review. For any future guest reading this, yes some of our tours may appear slightly more expensive than others however, when you confirm your tour with us, you are paying for superior quality services, just ask the hundreds of guest we take on a yearly basis. We absolutely do not need the stress of taking 1 person on tour however because I am a nice person who loves to help; I offered to make something happen for you. If you are looking for tour operators who are greedy to take your monies knowing the zoo is closed then by all means choose another company and when you get what you paid for please take your comments and complaints there.
