About this experience

Isolated from the Wolrd, Khinalug village is located at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level and will be the last point to visit during this tour. You will see not only the ancient architecture of this village, you will also enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the peaks surrounding this village. And on the way to Khinalig, you can often see eagles flying overhead, wild horses galloping along the banks of stony rivers and clouds descending so low that sometimes they can even be touched.

What you'll see and do

  1. Masazirgol

Pink Lake (Masazir) — the most unique lake in Azerbaijan, renowned for its unusual hue. There are only eight pink lakes in the world, and one of them is right here in Azerbaijan. Note: During the winter period (from December 1 to March 31), visits to the Pink Lake Masazyr are temporarily suspended, as due to natural conditions the lake loses its characteristic pink shade. This allows more time to be spent at other key locations of the itinerary, including the Shahdag Mountain Resort, which makes the tour even more rich and comfortable. This location is unavailable till april 30.

  2. Besh Barmag Mountain

The capital of Azerbaijan is connected to the largest cities of Russia by the M1 motorway. This motorway is followed by the beautiful landscapes, one of which is the peaks of Beshbarmaq Mountain. There are plenty of different legends involving this mountain, but the truth about it includes stories about its peak being a guiding point to sailors back in the days. There’s also a holy place called “Pir Hydyr Zundzha” located here, that many respect immensely stopping at the foot of the mountain to pray and worship. Professional guides of Azerbaijan Travel International will not only tell you mythical stories about the place itself, but portray the true story about the life of its habitats.

  3. Multi-Colored Mountains of Khyzy

In the region of Khizi, not far from Baku, you will stop to capture the unique slopes of the mountains. These slopes are distinctive due to their vibrant colors, and there are only about three places like this in the world. Don't miss the opportunity to visit our "Caramel" hills!

  4. Now, with the sun shining high in the sky, tourists are led to the restaurant in Quba, that includes multiple food and beverage choices. From meat kebab to vegetables, salads and chicken, you’ll have the opportunity to try something that suits your specific taste.

  5. After lunch, you will set off to the village of Khinalug. Your journey will take you through the Gudialchay Gorge, a historic path that has been traversed for centuries by people from around the world. Local shepherds have led their flocks to the river of the same name, and warriors from some of the greatest Eastern empires have walked this route as well.

  6. State Historical, Architectural and Ethnographic Reserve Khinalig

Nestled amidst the breathtaking peaks of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, lies the ancient village of Khinalig. Perched at an elevation of 2,350 meters (7,700 feet) above sea level, Khinalig proudly holds the distinction of being recognized as the highest continuously inhabited settlement in Europe. The people who live there have a life so inherently different from what we might expect, having a unique language of their own, own traditions and freedom that some of us can’t even imagine having.

Guba-Khinalig Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Baku.

How much does Guba-Khinalig Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $36 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Baku usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Guba-Khinalig Tour take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Baku is not rushed.

Is Guba-Khinalig Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 26 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Baku, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Guba-Khinalig Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Guba-Khinalig Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Guba-Khinalig Tour?

+

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Baku can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Baku and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Guba-Khinalig Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Baku within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Baku?

+

On Outty we rank every Baku experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include BEST Gobustan, Volcanoes & Absheron Fire Tour (Group or Private), Gobustan and Absheron tour, Old and Modern Baku Tour ( Day & Night Time). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Baku?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Baku?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
