Experience never happened as they canceled the trip hours before the pick up time. Very frustrating.
They canceled the trip in the middle of the night. Got up at 4 AM for pick up at five and at 12:30 that morning they had canceled the trip. Poor service. Recommend using another company.

Bad experience
I will start by saying our guides were very nice and did their best with the situation at hand. I will also say I appreciate that when I brought the issue to the tour operators attention, they issued a $70 refund. However a $70 refund is disappointing for the experience we had, so I will continue with leaving a review. They listed the tour as a private transfer. This usually means a SUV or small van, but no, It was a small sedan, and my party of three was packed into the back of the car like sardines for a total of 8 hours. Our backs and legs hurt for having to sit still on top of each other for hours. Then, given the condition of the car, the tire bust and we had to pull over on the side of the road. The driver was able to put a donut tire on and make it to the grotas, but then he had to leave to find another tire The point of a private tour is that you can come and leave as you wish. But given the fact that our driver had to go all the way out of the mountains to get a new tire, we were stranded at the location two hours longer than we wanted to stay. So in terms of comfort and flexibility, you’d be better off taking a public tour for a fraction of the cost. Additionally the grotas were not that impressive, and are not worth losing a day in Mexico City. They are very impressive, are not all natural, and is really far for the value of the experience Additionally the tour lists snacks and water included and we did not get either
Response from the operator: Dear Sierra, Thanks a lot for your valuable feedback. We are sorry to hear that our tour could not fully meet your expectations - we will do our best to improve our services in the future. Meanwhile, please kindly let us provide some feedback: - Indeed, external circumstances like weather and tire issues can undermine the whole tour experience. The driver did his best to ensure a secure return to Mexico City and thus went to repair the original tire (using a donut tire would be do uncomfortable) which, given the location of Grutas de Tolantongo in a remote mountainous area, took him more time (thus, the return at 5 pm - the standard time for this tour, given its duration and pickup at 7 am). - As the description of the tour states, "the type of the vehicle depends on the size of your group and may include car, SUV, minivan." Thus, due to the size of your group, a car was provided. The price of the tour is indeed higher than the group one due to fixed costs and work of 2 people (guide an driver). regards, gratefully, Vibe Adventures’ team

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City (1- or 2-day): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City (1- or 2-day) cost?
+
Prices start at $105 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City (1- or 2-day) take?
+
Plan for about 14 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City (1- or 2-day) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City (1- or 2-day)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City (1- or 2-day) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 14-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City (1- or 2-day)?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 14-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Grutas de Tolantongo Tour from Mexico City (1- or 2-day) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
