I participated in the tour yesterday, May 22, 2026. I found it very good because of the two very nice and mystical guides. One of them scares you several times, which is very entertaining because everyone around turns to him. Today, I am going again to one of their tours.

Unfortunately, this tour did not match what was advertised. The listing clearly stated English, but the tour was conducted in German. What made this especially frustrating was how it was handled. When our group didn't understand a question the guide asked in German, she seemed offended — even though we had booked an English tour in good faith. A comment she made was met with laughter from the rest of the group, which left us feeling singled out and embarrassed. I understand language logistics can be complicated, but the solution isn't to make guests feel at fault for not speaking a language they weren't told they'd need. A simple correction to the listing — or a genuine effort to accommodate English speakers during the tour — would go a long way. Until that's addressed, I can't recommend this to English-speaking travellers.

Viator/TripAdvisor automatically translates the text into English when you book from abroad; however, the text clearly states that the tour is conducted in German. When we noticed that your sister had booked our tour (using an English phone number), we specifically reached out to you to suggest that you cancel if you did not speak German. You failed to do so. Upon arrival at the meeting point, you realized that the tour was indeed in German. Instead of approaching our guide, you illegally took photos of the entire group—including individual guests—and posted them online! This is a punishable offense in Germany! Your sister had already left us a negative review for a mistake *she* had made (namely, failing to read—twice—that the tour was in German). You then cancelled the tour online while still on-site and did not join the group for the tour. It is truly appalling that you have given us two negative reviews solely because of your own failure to read the details. We exclude no one. Everyone from everywhere is welcome.

A mix up and then a rude encounter
My sister and I booked this tour because we love ghost tours and haunted history. Unfortunately, this option was shown to me and described in English when the tour guide speaks German only. The operator sent a message advising me to cancel, however I only saw this after we arrived at the meeting spot. As I was writing back and attempting to cancel, the guide arrived and I think she said something to me, which I did not catch due to the language barrier and the fact that I was canceling in the app and didn’t see her. Had it ended there, that would have been fine. However, she apparently took it as a sleight that I didn’t catch what she’d said and went back to the rest of the group and said something rude about me in German. They all laughed and that made me look up and see them looking at me and chuckling at my expense. Very odd and unnecessarily nasty over an obvious miscommunication. That brief encounter made me happy that we didn’t have to spend an hour and a half with these folks.

Wir haben dir diesbezüglich vorher sogar eine Mail geschrieben und dich darauf hingewiesen, weil wir gesehen haben, dass du aus dem Ausland gebucht hast und möglicherweise überlesen hast, dass die Tour auf Deutsch ist. Wenn du nämlich frühzeitig selbst stornierst, bekommst du dein ganzes Geld zurück. Das ist schon sehr ehrlich und zuvorkommend von uns. Wir haben mit unserer Guidin gesprochen und sie hat euch einfach nur gefragt, ob ihr mit zur Gruseltour wollt - aber eben auf Deutsch. Leider seid ihr mit ihr nicht weiter in den Kontakt gegangen, um die Situation vor Ort zu klären. Wir können auch nicht sagen, ob oder warum die Gruppe gelacht hat. Aber anzunehmen, dass sie über euch gelacht haben, ist eine grobe Unterstellung. Ihr habt dann ja die Tour gecancelt. Wir haben uns vor Ort noch über den Chat unterhalten. Ihr wart also beide nicht bei der Tour und habt uns dennoch 2x 2 Sterne gegeben. Wir sind ein kleines liebevoll geführtes Familienunternehmen, was euch sogar noch vorab darüber aufgeklärt hat, dass die Tour nur auf Deutsch ist, damit ihr rechtzeitig stornieren könnt und euer Geld zurück kriegt. Ihr habt nicht teilgenommen und bewertet uns einfach dennoch gleich zweimal schlecht, aufgrund eines Missverständnisses, was sichtlich auf eurer Seite lag. Das finden wir einfach nicht fair und macht uns traurig, da wir mit unseren Gästen immer ehrlich umgehen und sehr viel Herzblut in unsere kostümierten Führungen stecken. Gruselgrüße
