    Golden Circle Private Eco-Tour

If you are traveling to Reykjavík, touring the Golden Circle is simply a must. And there's no better way to experience this magnificent landscape than by a private tour lead by a knowledgeable and experienced guide. We booked what turned out to be an 11-hour tour with Josip at EV Travel (through Viator) and our day was nothing short of fantastic. Our tour included the Geothermal Exhibition & Power Plant, the Geysir of Strokkur, Kerid Crater, Thingvellir National Park, Friðheimar Tomato Farm for lunch and, of course, Gullfoss Falls. Josip provided an in-depth narrative at each location and gave us a real sense of this wonderful place. His English language skills are excellent and he's easy to understand at all times. Please note that there's a fair bit of walking/hiking involved to fully appreciate all that this beautiful landscape has to offer, but you can do as much or as little of this as you choose. This is a tour we highly recommend without hesitation!

Response from the operator: Jeffrey, thank you so much for these lovely words. It was really a pleasure having you and to hear all the stories also from your side. Hope to see you again and that we will have another adventure! Josip

    Iceland at its best!

On Saturday evening, Josip spontaneously agreed to take us on a trip to the Strokkur geyser and Gullfoss waterfall. It was a very pleasant tour in a very well-maintained Mercedes van. During the ride, he entertained us with his knowledge of the sights and Icelandic customs.

Response from the operator: These spontaneous encounters and tours are always the best! Thank you for your nice words, and maybe we meet again and do a bike tour :)

A day well spent learning about the geology, history, and Icelandic life

We took a private Golden Circle tour with EV Travel and can't recommend them highly enough. Our tour was led by Adrian, who is throughly knowledgeable about the geology and history of the area, conveyed through his excellent narration. Of course, the scenery was spectacular! I especially like standing on the highlands overlooking the rift valley with its deep fissures tearing apart the land. I really enjoyed connecting with Adrian on our shared interests in geology and Viking history. Adrian is very friendly and conversational, and we learned some of his full and interesting life.

This Eco-friendly tour delivers on so many levels

This tour was the perfect full-day family experience, with our generous local guide, Sigfus. From the geothermal power plant to gushing geysers and on to stunning waterfalls. Ancient turf churches, hidden tunnels, and modern stain glass windows. We covered so many beautiful sights. Sigfus is not only knowledgeable about Iceland’s history but is also a talented photographer. He captured some great family photos along the way! The meal at the Fridheimar Tomato Farm was amazing and it was a bonus to finish off the day with ice cream on a dairy farm, while watching the cows feeding in the barn. This tour will tick all the boxes and more!

Golden Circle Experience - Private Eco Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Golden Circle Experience - Private Eco Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $1989 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Golden Circle Experience - Private Eco Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Golden Circle Experience - Private Eco Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Golden Circle Experience - Private Eco Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Golden Circle Experience - Private Eco Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Golden Circle Experience - Private Eco Tour?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Golden Circle Experience - Private Eco Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
