Excellent Baku Private Tour (Gobustan National Park)

We used this private tour for two consecutive days. It was extremely convenient to be able to incorporate it into our own schedule while taking our other sightseeing plans into account. Access to Gobustan National Park is quite limited, and traveling by car is definitely the best option. While it’s possible to book a car through an app each time, you may end up waiting a long time if the timing is bad. In that sense, a private tour with a dedicated vehicle is undoubtedly the best choice. Our guide, Shahriyar Malikli, and our driver, Vugar, picked us up from our specified location. They were also very accommodating whenever we requested to stop by additional sightseeing spots along the way. They proved to be highly reliable partners for a private tour. Next time we visit, and whenever friends of ours plan a trip to Baku, we will definitely recommend them!

Insightful Private Tour into Ancient History & Natural Wonders

This tour was a fantastic experience and highly enriching from start to finish. Our guide, Shahryiar, was extremely knowledgeable and provided detailed explanations throughout the journey. What stood out most was how he brought history to life—explaining how people lived during the Paleolithic and Stone Age, while thoughtfully comparing it with developments in other parts of the world. It gave a much deeper, global perspective that I hadn’t expected. The visit to the mud volcanoes was also fascinating, and Shahryiar shared clear and engaging insights into their formation and significance. I also really enjoyed seeing the Bibi-Heybat Mosque and the shipyard at the South Port. The mosque was beautiful and serene, while the shipyard was a unique highlight—something you don’t get to see every day, which made the experience even more memorable. Our driver, Vugar, was very professional and ensured a smooth and comfortable ride throughout the day, even on mountainous terrain and unpaved roads. We felt safe at all times. The best part of this experience is that it’s a private tour, so you have the flexibility to spend more time at the spots that interest you most. That level of customization made the tour even more valuable. I would especially recommend this tour to business travelers visiting Baku who want to make the most of their limited time, as well as to anyone looking for a tour with in-depth, professional historical explanations. FYI for the ticket admission of Gobustan (15 AZN per person)and mud volcano(15AZN per person), you can use credit card.

Response from the operator: We are truly pleased to hear that the experience was both enjoyable and enriching for you. It is especially wonderful to know that Shahryiar’s historical explanations and broader global comparisons added deeper meaning to the journey. Presenting Azerbaijan’s history within a wider historical context is something we strongly value, so your feedback is greatly appreciated. We are also glad that you enjoyed the visit to the Gobustan petroglyphs, the fascinating mud volcanoes, Bibi-Heybat Mosque, and the South Port shipyard. These locations together offer a unique combination of history, geology, culture, and modern industrial life, and we are happy that this balance made the tour more memorable for you. Your kind words about Vugar’s professional driving and the comfort and safety throughout the trip mean a lot to us as well. We are especially pleased that you appreciated the flexibility of the private tour format, allowing you to spend more time at the places that interested you most. Creating personalized and meaningful experiences is always one of our main priorities. Thank you once again for your recommendation and for sharing useful practical information for future travelers. We sincerely hope to welcome you back to Azerbaijan again in the future.

Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Baku.

How much does Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Baku usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Baku is not rushed.

Is Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Baku, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Baku can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Baku and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Baku within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Baku?

    +

On Outty we rank every Baku experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gobustan and Absheron tour, BEST Gobustan, Volcanoes & Absheron Fire Tour (Group or Private), Shahdag, Quba, Candy Cane - Azerbaijan's Alpine Odyssey Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Baku?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Baku?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour?

    +

Included: Expert Tour Guide; and In-vehicle air conditioning. Not included: Entrance fees; and Entrance fees. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

What languages is Gobustan Rock Art and Mud Volcanoes Private Tour offered in?

    +
