Hands down, one of the most unforgettable trips of my life!
This experience was truly one of a kind. It felt so remarkably natural and immersive that you never feel like an awkward or out-of-place tourist—you genuinely get to step into their local way of life and experience it firsthand. A huge shout-out to our guide, NEUNG—he is hands down the warmest, most genuine, and best guide I have ever met. Being originally from the Karen village, he shared that doing this work is all about supporting and giving back to his hometown. Seeing his heart and dedication for his community was deeply moving. While seeing the gibbons was amazing, the depth of the local connection and NEUNG’s passion made it extraordinary. Honestly, staying for only two days was way too short! Leaving was bittersweet, and I am definitely coming back to stay longer next time. Do not hesitate—this is an absolute must-do!

The BEST tour for wildlife, culture, and fun!
This was one of my favorite experiences in Thailand! The village is wonderfully charming and the people are quite welcoming. Seeing the gibbons was fantastic, and I loved that they are free to roam as they please. Uno was the best guide, and absolutely made our trip. He was knowledgeable and funny, and quite adaptable. Even after driving and working all day, we told him that we wanted to see some reptiles and amphibians and he arranged for us to go that night! You won’t be disappointed- LOVE this place and this experience

Once in a lifetime experience!
We had the best time with one and his family, he was the best guide we could have asked for! Couldn’t have felt more comfortable. We loved seeing the nontouristic side of thailand, the people were so nice and inviting. In two days we saw and experienced such an unbelievable amount of things, really a one in a lifetime experience! Would recommend to everyone who wants to see the stunning nature of thailand in the most natural way and learn more about the amazing culture and food. We loved it thank you one!

Amazing 2 day stay in the Karen village
We went on the 2 day gibbon tour in the Karen village and it was an unforgettable experience! Our guide Uno was so friendly and made us feel at home right away. We got to experience seeing and hearing gibbons swinging through the tree tops, and enjoyed an evening in a local home learning how to craft cups and baskets from bamboo. We explored the jungle and saw many interesting insects, ate fruit straight from the trees and were given a tour of their amazing polyculture farms. The accommodation was comfortable and the food was nutritious and delicious. I would recommend this experience so highly to any nature lovers and people wanting to experience Thailand off the beaten path. Thank you for making us so welcome in your village <3

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Gibbon Conservation and Cultural 2-Days Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chiang Mai.
How much does Gibbon Conservation and Cultural 2-Days Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $600 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chiang Mai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Gibbon Conservation and Cultural 2-Days Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chiang Mai is not rushed.
Is Gibbon Conservation and Cultural 2-Days Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Chiang Mai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Gibbon Conservation and Cultural 2-Days Adventure?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Gibbon Conservation and Cultural 2-Days Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Gibbon Conservation and Cultural 2-Days Adventure?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Gibbon Conservation and Cultural 2-Days Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chiang Mai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?
+
On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
