Not only some good ghost...
Not only some good ghost stories but a great overview of the history of the town. There were several interesting historical stories told about the times during the Russian ownership.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We love sharing Sitka’s haunted history, but also the rich stories that shaped our town — especially the fascinating era of Russian America. I’m so glad you enjoyed learning about both the ghost stories and the real historical events behind them. Thank you for joining Haunted Sitka, and we hope to see you again on another Alaska adventure! 👻🏔️

Excellent "off the beaten path" experience
Excellent tour! Not only did we get ghost stories (and a little tidbit about "The Proposal"), we saw areas of the city that many others missed. Found a great second-hand shop on the tour guide's recommendation where I found discounted Sitka shirts. We checked out graveyards and other historical sites, highly recommend this tour for a more "off the beaten path" experience. *If you bought this tour through Holland America be aware they were having scheduling issues: the ship's app said the tour started an hour before it actually does. If you get there early and the guide isn't there, please wait. You won't regret it.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the fantastic review! I love helping guests experience the hidden side of Sitka — from haunted history and local legends to the tucked-away spots many visitors never get to see. I’m especially glad you found some great Sitka treasures along the way too! 😊 Thank you for joining the tour and for recommending Haunted Sitka as an “off the beaten path” experience. Safe travels, and we hope to see you back in Sitka again someday! 👻🏔️

Sweet tour guide
Very friendly knowledgeable guide. You see a couple cemeteries and learn about the town history. Hit Ernie’s after for a Duck Fart and a beer. Would definitely do it again.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the 5-star review! I’m so glad you enjoyed exploring Sitka’s history (and a couple of our spookier cemeteries 👻) with me. Ending the night at Ernie’s with a Duck Fart and a cold beer is always the perfect local touch 🍻. I’d love to see you again on another Haunted Sitka adventure! — Emily

Scary with a smile
On a cold and rainy day, we set off on foot for a Ghost Tour of downtown Sitka. Emily dressed the part to guide us through the streets and alleys of Sitka on a historical tour she has based on old newspaper accounts of several murders and deaths, along with the anecdotal tales of spirits wandering about or engaging with the living. Emily is an animated and enjoyable speaker, and turned a dreary day into a fun experience. I definitely recommend this tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review! Even on a cold, rainy Sitka day, I love that the stories and spirits helped bring the streets to life. 🌧️👻 I’m glad you enjoyed the blend of history and hauntings — those old newspaper accounts are some of my favorite sources to share. It was such a pleasure guiding you, and I truly appreciate your kind recommendation! — Emily

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ghosts of Historic Sitka - Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sitka.
How much does Ghosts of Historic Sitka - Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sitka usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ghosts of Historic Sitka - Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sitka is not rushed.
Is Ghosts of Historic Sitka - Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sitka, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ghosts of Historic Sitka - Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ghosts of Historic Sitka - Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ghosts of Historic Sitka - Walking Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sitka can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sitka and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ghosts of Historic Sitka - Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sitka within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sitka?
+
Sitka runs sea otter and whale quest boats, bear and raptor rescue centre visits, Tongass rainforest hikes, kayak paddles through the islands and Russian colonial history walks. On Outty we rank every Sitka experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include PREMIUM Sitka Scenic Tour, Best of Sitka Land Tour / Bears, Raptors, Totems, Guided Hike | TONGASS NATIONAL FOREST. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sitka?
+
May to September. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sitka?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
